Phu Tho opens its doors to welcome Japanese businesses

Mr. Tran Duy Dong - Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee said that the province always welcomes Japanese partners and enterprises to explore potential, share benefits and create a sustainable development future.

At the Vietnam - Japan Local Cooperation Forum held recently, Mr. Tran Duy Dong - Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee said that the event contributed to fostering and deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity between Vietnam and Japan.

According to Mr. Dong, Phu Tho is proud to be the sacred "ancestral land", the origin of the Vietnamese people, where the Hung Kings founded the country.

After the merger, the new Phu Tho province has greater and more diverse potential and strengths with a population of more than 4 million people, an area of ​​more than 9,300 km2, and an economic scale of 15 billion USD - ranking 6th out of 34 localities in Vietnam.

In addition, the province's export turnover in 2025 is expected to be over 70 billion USD, in the top 5 of the country, determined to become a key growth pole of the Northern Midlands and Mountains region.

Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee Tran Duy Dong always affirmed that Phu Tho will create the best conditions for Japanese investors to conduct production and business activities in the province.

In the first 10 months of 2025, the province's growth rate reached 10.22%, ranking 4th out of 34 localities with the growth driver being industry, focusing on electricity, electronics, automobiles and motorbikes.

Mr. Dong said that in the development journey, Phu Tho province always considers Japanese localities and enterprises as strategic and trustworthy partners and the two sides have achieved important and encouraging results in many fields.

Specifically, there are more than 76 FDI projects of Japanese investors, with a total registered capital of over 2.07 billion USD. Large Japanese enterprises and corporations such as Honda, Toyota, Sumitomo, Sojitz, etc. have contributed to shaping the province's modern industrial foundation; transferring technology, management standards and professional style typical of Japan.

Regarding local cooperation, Phu Tho has established friendly cooperative relations with four Japanese localities, including: Nara province, Akita province, Tochigi province and Ichinoseki city.

“These relationships are a solid foundation, creating a bridge for effective economic exchange and cooperation between local governments and businesses of the two countries,” said Mr. Dong.

Mr. Dong also said that Phu Tho province has actively coordinated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam to carry out diverse cultural exchange and art performance activities. Many officials, civil servants, students and pupils of Phu Tho have been and are being trained and working in Japan.

“These events have practically contributed to enhancing understanding and consolidating the deep friendship between the Vietnamese and Japanese people,” Mr. Dong said.

The leaders of Phu Tho province said that entering a new development phase, Phu Tho aspires to break through to become an economic pillar of the Northern Midlands and Mountains region, and at the same time rise to play the role of an important industrial center of the whole country.

To attract businesses, including Japanese ones, the province is making efforts to build a solid foundation based on three strategic pillars: synchronous and modern infrastructure; transparent and open institutions; and high-quality human resources.

Phu Tho province is committed to ensuring a "clean land" fund ready for factory construction and perfecting a safe, reliable and effective investment and business environment for Japanese partners.

“We consider the success of businesses as the success of the province, consistent with the motto: “Accompanying comprehensive development - Creating a sustainable future”, Mr. Dong shared.

Chairman of Phu Tho Tran Duy Dong also emphasized that the province prioritizes calling for and is ready to offer the best incentives to Japanese enterprises to invest in fields where the two sides have high complementarity. The focus is on high-tech industry, mechanical engineering, electronics, pharmaceuticals and agricultural processing; investment in green industrial park infrastructure and development of eco-tourism and high-class resorts.

In addition, we will continue to expand and deepen friendly relations with Japanese localities and partners; create maximum conditions to expand study abroad and student exchange programs; provide high-quality labor resources from Phu Tho to work in Japan; regularly maintain Vietnam-Japan cultural exchange activities and promote tourism cooperation...

Phu Tho province hopes to continue receiving attention and support from the Japanese Government and international organizations through ODA projects that prioritize investment in essential infrastructure, education, healthcare, environmental protection and improving capacity to respond to climate change.
