On December 8, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim wrote on social network X that he was “extremely concerned” about reports of clashes between forces of the two neighboring countries, while emphasizing that Malaysia was ready to help restore calm and prevent new incidents.
He called on Thailand and Cambodia to exercise maximum restraint, maintain communication and utilize existing bilateral mechanisms to handle the situation.

On the same day, Malaysian Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan affirmed that Malaysia prioritizes regional peace and stability.
Malaysia called on both sides to comply with Article 7 of the July 28 Ceasefire Agreement, which requires that if a conflict occurs - whether intentional or unintentional - the two sides must promptly consult at the local level through bilateral mechanisms to prevent the situation from escalating.
Malaysia believes that continuous dialogue, constructive diplomacy and respect for previous agreements are the best way to maintain peace and stability along the two countries' borders.
