In recent times, tourism development based on promoting natural advantages, unique cultural values, and indigenous ecology of Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark has become one of the three economic pillars of the locality.

Located in the core area of Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark, the communes of Nam Da, Krong No, Quang Phu... with unique geological and cultural heritages are valuable resources in attracting tourists .

According to MSc. Le Van Ha - Institute of Human Geography, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, the core zone of Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark has a developed agriculture with many famous agricultural products on the aluvi sedimentary fields and ancient lava. "This is also the basis for developing tourism associated with agriculture and rural areas to diversify tourism products to serve tourists, promoting agricultural and rural development," said MSc. Le Van Ha.

In recent times, localities have made efforts to develop a number of tourism products, creating a premise for the development of experiential tourism and agricultural tourism models. From there, attracting tourists to visit, relax and participate in rural life activities and agricultural production such as: community activities, planting trees, and taking care of livestock at farm households.

In addition, there are also tangerine growing models in Nam Nung and Duc Xuyen communes, Ganoderma mushroom growing models in Nam Da, cage fish farming models on the Krong No river, and experiencing the process of making rice in Nam Da commune... Thereby, a product has been formed to learn about people's livelihood models associated with the implementation of agricultural products that meet VietGAP and OCOP standards in the locality.

In addition, visitors also have the opportunity to experience the cultural values and traditional customs of ethnic groups such as: traditional cuisine, family activities in traditional villages and hamlets in 3 hamlets of Nam Nung commune. Visitors can also learn about traditional culture with gongs, the Ot N'rong epic, traditional festivals, folk songs, musical instruments, brocade weaving of the M'nong, Ede, Tay, Nung...

According to Ms. Le Thi Hong An - Director of Nam Blang Cooperative, although it is a land with many potentials and advantages, the localities in the core zone of the Global Geopark have not yet promoted their inherent potentials and advantages to attract tourists. Ms. Le Thi Hong An said: "The reason is that because they have never done tourism before, the localities are confused in approaching the model and type of tourism associated with agriculture and rural areas."

In addition, the resources of the communes are still lacking and weak in terms of human resources and material resources. Planning work, detailed plans as well as a system of tourism products and services categories have not been built.

Furthermore, with a large area, rugged terrain, and dense types of heritage, the authorities and local governments face many difficulties in managing and protecting heritage. On the other hand, the infrastructure is not commensurate with the potential, so there are not enough strong investors coming to the localities.

Therefore, spontaneous tourism always takes place, especially in the area of cave systems and volcanoes. Meanwhile, typical production activities with experiential value are being neglected.

A representative of Dam San Tourism - Trade Investment Company Limited, the unit that is surveying the investment project of DamSan Blang Agricultural Tourism Farm in Nam Da Commune, said: "Without the local people, no one can create local tourism products and services. Therefore, to successfully implement this model, local people need to be trained and educated to create a new step with the Global Geopark."
