Improve the quality of OCOP products

Buon Ma Thuot City currently has 32 OCOP products, including 5 4-star products and 26 3-star products.

In particular, Kien Cuong weasel coffee has been evaluated and classified as 5 stars by competent authorities.

Kien Cuong weasel coffee farm on Hoang Hoa Tham street has become an attractive destination for domestic and foreign tourists.

Here, hundreds of civet cats (Paradoxurus hemaphroditus) are raised to produce premium civet coffee.

“Weasel coffee is produced using enzymes in the weasel’s digestive system,” said a farm representative. “In the wild, the weasel’s habitat is increasingly shrinking, and its population is also decreasing sharply. The production of this coffee is closely linked to the process of raising and preserving the species.”

According to the farm owner, the civets still retain the ability to choose their own coffee, ensuring excellent quality thanks to the environment that is close to nature. The civets are released into gardens under strict supervision and protection.

Coffee is only a supplement, making up a very small part of the diet, depending on the needs of each individual. The farm also applies modern processing technologies to improve product quality.

This case is a clear demonstration of the efforts to innovate and affirm the brand value of Buon Ma Thuot enterprises.

At the same time, city authorities regularly inspect and monitor recognized OCOP products to ensure quality maintenance.

The government also actively guides entities to promote and boost trade, contributing to the effective and sustainable consumption of OCOP products.

Paving the way for business growth

In 2024, Buon Ma Thuot city will complete the construction of Buon Kao market in Ea Kao commune and successfully organize an agricultural market, introducing OCOP products.

Promotional and trade promotion activities are also organized regularly, creating conditions for businesses to find agents and trading partners.

Mr. Tran Duc Nhat - Vice Chairman of Buon Ma Thuot City People's Committee commented: "In recent years, businesses in the area have continuously focused on upgrading and improving the quality of OCOP products. Many units have successfully upgraded their star ratings, gradually building trust with partners and people".

According to Mr. Nhat, in the coming time, the authorities will focus on digital transformation and training for OCOP entities on online business. Thereby, supporting the introduction of products to e-commerce platforms such as Shopee, Lazada, Tiktok, etc.

These activities not only support local economic development but also create the foundation for sustainable agriculture, meeting domestic market requirements and aiming for export.
