Ocean tuna is the highlight at the festival "Tinh hoa dat binh dinh"

According to the organizers, Dr. Hoang Duan is the overall director of the "Essence of Binh Dinh's Land and Sea" festival program. In 2024, Miss Ocean Vietnam Thu Uyên became the brand ambassador.

Creating a unique identity for Binh Dinh

The festival features many unique cultural, artistic, commercial, and tourism activities, including: the opening ceremony with the theme " Binh Dinh – Aspiration for the Sea" (evening of July 11th at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square, Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh); a food fair showcasing delicious seafood dishes and OCOP products, and traditional crafts from Binh Dinh province; performances of traditional opera, folk singing, and Binh Dinh martial arts (July 12-13 at Chien Thang Square and Nguyen Tat Thanh Square); a street festival themed "Binh Dinh Welcomes Summer" (afternoon of July 14th at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square); and a light festival (closing ceremony) themed "Quy NhonThe Shining Lighthouse" (evening of July 14th at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square)…

Dr. Hoang Duan affirmed that the festival program will have distinctive features, creating a unique mark of Binh Dinh. Specifically, the opening night's art program will highlight the appearance of a school of tuna combined with sound and light effects; street art activities will include a parade of floats promoting Binh Dinh's heritage and Binh Dinh's tuna; and a culinary program will feature international chefs showcasing dishes with tuna and agricultural products from Binh Dinh as the main ingredients…

Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Thanh, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province, said that the festival is an opportunity to promote the essence of Binh Dinh's coastal region to enhance its position on the Vietnamese tourism map, attract domestic and international tourists; and invite investors to learn about and join hands in developing Binh Dinh.

This festival will also contribute to increasing the number of tourists visiting Quy Nhon City. At the same time, it will enhance the brand value of typical products, OCOP products, and traditional craft villages of the province, focusing on promoting high-value marine products; especially Binh Dinh's ocean tuna.

According to Mr. Nguyen Tuan Thanh, ocean tuna is a key product of Binh Dinh province, with an average annual catch of nearly 14,000 tons, accounting for more than 60% of the country's total ocean tuna production.

The art of tuna cuisine

According to Mr. Tran Van Phuc, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Binh Dinh province and Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for the 2024 Binh Dinh Seafood Festival, one of the highlights of the festival is the program introducing the culinary art of ocean tuna.

The program will provide 1,500 free meals to visitors at the An Duong Vuong Street Children's Park (Quy Nhon City) at 5:30 PM daily, from July 11th to 15th.

At the festival, thanks to the skillful hands of chefs from Ho Chi Minh City, Japan, and Australia, tuna from Binh Dinh province was gutted, filleted, and prepared into very creative, nutritious, and unique dishes.

Preparations for the 2024 Binh Dinh Land and Sea Quintessence Festival are nearing completion.

Inspired by a Central Vietnamese folk verse: "What's the point of all the wasted effort, all the wasted effort, carrying water to water the coconut trees in Tam Quan?", Chef Kim Bernard Chilcott, Culinary Director of AL Frescos Group, created a tuna salad with spicy coconut sauce; Chef Ly Kim Long, ranked among the top 100 chefs in the world in 2023 and a WorldChefs judge, prepared a tuna curry with Tam Quan coconut (Binh Dinh); and Mr. Matsuo Tomoyuki, President of the Vietnam-Japan Culinary Culture Association, prepared Matsuri Tekka (tuna sushi combo)...

In addition to the food, the festival organizers also invited Mr. Vo Tan Sy, president of the Saigon Bartenders Association, to mix five types of cocktails using Bau Da rice wine for guests to enjoy.

According to Mr. Phuc, at the same location and time as the "Introducing the Art of Ocean Tuna Cuisine" program, the "Delicious Dishes from the Sea and OCOP Products" and "Traditional Craft Villages" food fair of Binh Dinh province will also take place from July 11-15. Nearly 200 booths will display characteristic OCOP products from 9 provinces/cities, including: Soc Trang, Tra Vinh, Tay Ninh, Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Da Nang, Ha Tinh, Lao Cai, and Thai Nguyen…
