Director Chung Chi Cong impressed audiences with his film "It's Morning, Let's Go to Sleep," featuring emotionally charged indie music and many songs he wrote himself. From then on, music became an inseparable "unique language" in the director's cinematic world. This strength isn't limited to films; it's also clearly demonstrated in his short film advertising projects that have created a stir, such as "Living as You Wish," "Still Together, Still Having Each Other for Tet," and "Unforgettable Promises"...

With "Thank You for Staying Up with Me," director Chung Chi Cong continues to exploit his familiar strength of telling family stories through cinematic language rich in poetry, imbued with the Vietnamese spirit, and combined with distinctive musical elements.

Sharing his thoughts on his second film, director Chung Chi-Kung said: “As we become adults with many responsibilities, we often tend to put our dreams aside. That temporary setting can become very long-lasting and never return. The film I want to make is a tribute to unfulfilled dreams and a hope that someone, someday, can continue that unfinished journey.”

Director Chung Chi-Kung stated that he hopes his second film will serve as a bridge to continue the emotional theme of "It's Morning, Let's Go to Sleep," but in the opposite direction. While the previous film was an invitation to leave the world behind and fall asleep, this one is a tribute to those who chose to stay awake with him. The title embodies both a sense of legacy and a fresh, mature style unique to Chung Chi-Kung.

“The film title, ‘Thank You for Staying Awake With Me,’ is my sincere tribute to those who ‘stayed awake’ to accompany me on this six-year journey, from the very beginning with my first film. They are the great source of inspiration for this film,” director Chung Chi Cong shared.

Gentle as a letter, profound as a piece of music, "Thank You for Staying Up with Me" offers viewers a heartwarming story about family bonds and the dreams and aspirations within each person.

Scheduled for release in February 2026, the film is expected to be a "breath of fresh air" for Vietnamese cinema with its unique musical film genre.
