TPO – After two nights of performances of "Brother Says Hi" on December 7th and 9th, the grass at My Dinh Stadium is in a dilapidated state. The management of the Sports Complex is actively repairing and refurbishing it in preparation for the possibility that the Vietnamese national team will reach the semi-finals of the ASEAN Cup 2024.
According to the planned schedule, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has reported to the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) that My Dinh Stadium will be chosen as the home ground for the Vietnamese national team should coach Kim Sang-sik's team qualify for the semi-finals and finals of the ASEAN Cup 2024. The issue is causing concern because My Dinh Stadium recently hosted two major music events, "Brother Says Hi," on December 7th and 9th.
The installation of equipment, plastic boards, etc., for the music event affected the quality of the pitch. For this reason, in the group stage, the Vietnamese national team had to choose Viet Tri Stadium ( Phu Tho ) to play, even though the initial plan was My Dinh Stadium.
According to our reporter's observations, after the concert ended, workers proceeded to remove the equipment and clean up My Dinh Stadium. The grass was still green but withered, the surface was quite hard, with many uneven marks and not achieving the necessary flatness, failing to meet standards.
Workers are clearing away foreign objects that remained on the grass of My Dinh Stadium after two nights of concerts.
The pitch is divided into grid-like sections, the grass is withered and no longer meets standards.
Some areas near the border have been left barren.
The grass was generally still green, but there were small patches of yellowing mixed in.
The pitch was severely damaged after the concert.
Cleaning staff use industrial blowers to remove tinsel and paper waste.
The spectator area has been cleaned up over the past few days.
The Viet Tri Stadium, with a capacity of only 20,000 seats (half the size of My Dinh Stadium), is predicted to be unable to meet the demand of fans should the Vietnamese team reach the semi-finals. Coach Kim Sang-sik and his team will lose a significant source of support from their supporters.
In the coming period, the management of My Dinh Stadium will have to actively care for and maintain the turf to restore it to its original condition. After that, the organizers of the AFF Cup 2024 will conduct a practical assessment to determine whether My Dinh Stadium is suitable to host the tournament.
