Attending the meeting were leaders of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, Department of Information and Communications, Department of Transport, Binh Thuan Tourism Association, relevant units and reporters from press agencies operating in the province.
At the conference, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department said that, in addition to focusing on reporting on the North-South expressway project through the province and the fight against illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing (IUU fishing) in Binh Thuan, the press also reported on the management and protection of forests, resources, and the environment; preventing crimes and social evils; ensuring food hygiene and safety; trade and tourism activities; and natural disaster prevention.
Regarding the issue raised by the press, Mr. Huynh Quang Huy - Head of the provincial Fisheries Department said that Binh Thuan is the leading province in the country in terms of results achieved in efforts to combat illegal fishing. Up to this point, the whole province has 1,941/1,961 fishing vessels with a length of 15 meters or more installed with voyage monitoring devices - VMS (reaching 99%), while this rate in coastal localities across the country is only about 70%; the remaining 20 fishing vessels that have not installed VMS are mainly those that are on shore, have financial difficulties, are losing money or have civil disputes, and are awaiting execution of judgments.
In the first 5 months of 2023, the units have sanctioned 137 violations with a total amount of nearly 1 billion VND, mainly violations such as: fishing vessels operating without registration; using prohibited fishing gear and occupations; storing tools and electric shocks to exploit seafood; people working on the vessel not having their names in the crew register; fishing vessels not complying with regulations on journey monitoring.
Regarding the issues arising in terms of security, order and traffic safety after the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay and Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressways were put into use, Mr. Huynh Ngoc Thanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Transport said that he had recommended that relevant agencies and units overcome and handle them. According to the Deputy Director of the Department of Transport, the shortcomings and problems that arose mainly occurred on the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway, while the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet route has been basically stable since its opening (May 19) until now, with no traffic jams. Regarding the opinion that there is a lack of speed limit signs on the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway, the representative of the Department of Transport said that they will coordinate to inspect, and in case of a lack of signs, they will propose to supplement them according to regulations.
Orienting the propaganda content in June 2023, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department requested press agencies and reporters to focus on reflecting the situation and results achieved over 3 years of implementing Conclusion No. 21 of the Central Committee on promoting Party building and rectification and the political system.
