From 0:00 on September 1, the expressway sections QL45 - Nghi Son (Thanh Hoa province), Nghi Son - Dien Chau (Thanh Hoa - Nghe An ) with a total length of more than 93 km were put into use.
The North-South Expressway connecting Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces officially came into operation at 0:00 on September 1.
According to the reporter's observation, the highway section QL45 - Nghi Son (from Dong Xuan intersection, Dong Son district - Tan Truong commune, Nghi Son town) with a length of more than 43 km is clear. The traffic in the north - south direction is more crowded, the traffic in the south - north direction is less crowded.
At the intersections of Tan Phuc, Van Thien (Nong Cong District) and Tan Truong (Nghi Son Town), functional forces are deployed to guide and instruct people entering and exiting the highway.
According to the traffic flow plan of the Ministry of Transport , the National Highway 45 - Nghi Son and Nghi Son - Dien Chau allow cars, passenger cars, and trucks of 10 tons or less to circulate.
Some workers are checking, adjusting the railings and continuing construction at the intersection.
Trucks over 10 tons, motorcycles, mopeds, tractors, specialized motorbikes with a speed of less than or equal to 70 km/h, rudimentary vehicles, and pedestrians are not allowed to travel on the highway.
The maximum speed of vehicles traveling on the two above-mentioned expressways is 80 km/h, the minimum is 60 km/h.
On these two expressway sections, there are 5 intersections from north to south, including: Van Thien intersection (Van Thien commune, Nong Cong district, Thanh Hoa) connecting with National Highway 45 and Nghi Son - Tho Xuan road; Nghi Son intersection (Nghi Son town, Thanh Hoa) connecting with Ho Chi Minh road, Nghi Son - Bai Tranh section. Quynh Vinh intersection (Nghe An) connecting with National Highway 48D; Quynh My intersection (Nghe An) connecting with National Highway 48B and Dien Cat intersection (Nghe An) connecting with National Highway 7.
Highway section through Yen My Lake (Nong Cong District, Thanh Hoa)
The Highway 45 - Nghi Son section of the expressway component project has a total length of 43.28 km. The northern end connects with the Mai Son - Highway 45 section at Dong Xuan intersection (Dong Son district, Thanh Hoa), the southern end connects with the Nghi Son - Dien Chau section in Tan Truong commune (Nghi Son town, Thanh Hoa). The total investment of this project is more than 5,500 billion VND, with Project Management Board 2 as the investor, starting construction in July 2021.
Nghi Son - Dien Chau Expressway is 50 km long. There are 3 intersections: Quynh Vinh intersection, Quynh My intersection and Dien Cat intersection. The total investment of the project is over 7,293 billion VND.

On the morning of September 1, a minor collision occurred on the North-South expressway through Dong Tien commune (Trieu Son district, Thanh Hoa).
The opening of the North-South expressway connecting Thanh Hoa province with Nghe An helps shorten the travel time from Nghe An to Hanoi from 5 hours to about 3.5 hours.
