The award ceremony was broadcast live on VTV1 - Vietnam Television, and livestreamed on many social networking platforms, including YouTube and Nhan Dan Newspaper's Fanpage.
This year's season, VinFuture recorded more than 1,700 applications from over 70 countries and territories - 2.8 times more than season 1 - showing the increasingly strong reputation and influence of the award after half a decade of development.
According to the Preliminary Council's assessment, the quality of the 2025 nominations was "truly outstanding, outstanding, and astonishing", making it extremely difficult to select a shortlist of about 5 to 10 nominations to present to the Prize Council.
The honored works are the crystallization of pioneering thinking, of persistent efforts to overcome challenges and of the aspiration to use science to serve life.
After the first 4 seasons, 4 groups of scientists, after being honored on the VinFuture stage, continued to be named at the Nobel Prize. This is considered a testament to the outstanding vision of the first international award founded by Vietnamese people, and at the same time, reflects the worthy recognition for research that has a profound impact on humanity.
The VinFuture Prize consists of four categories, of which the Main Prize worth 3 million USD is one of the most valuable prizes in the world; and three Special Prizes, each worth 500,000 USD, for female scientists, scientists from developing countries and scientists researching new fields.
