2025 marks the 9th time the Provincial Youth Entrepreneurship Support Center (under the Provincial Youth Union) has organized the An Giang Provincial Creative Entrepreneurship Ideas Competition. After more than 7 months of launching, the competition attracted 37 startup ideas and projects from youth union members. The Organizing Committee selected 10 projects and ideas to participate in the final round; 8 ideas won prizes.
Particularly noteworthy is the project "Enhancing the Value of Straw Mushrooms - From Raw Agricultural Product to Value-Added Product" by Ms. Nguyen Hoang Ngoc Yen, representative of Tai Phat Production and Trading Co., Ltd., Binh Hoa commune. Straw mushrooms are a common agricultural product, but are mainly sold fresh and are easily perishable; there are not many processed products. Recognizing this limitation, Ms. Yen researched and transformed straw mushrooms into convenient and nutritious processed products such as mushroom puffs, mushroom floss, mushroom patties, and mushroom seasoning powder. During the production process, Ms. Yen sells mushroom spawn, purchases commercial mushrooms from local farmers, and provides technical support for cultivation... This has created jobs for local people, workers, and people with disabilities. Her project excellently won second prize in the competition.
Meanwhile, the "Crab Floss" project by Ms. Bui Kim Hoa, residing in the Kien Hai Special Economic Zone, impressed with its uniqueness. Thanks to the natural conditions of the Kien Hai sea area, the green-clawed crabs here have sweet, firm, and nutritious meat. Based on these characteristics, Ms. Kim Hoa decided to elevate the local specialty product, creating crab floss. All ingredients are fresh crabs caught in the wild. After steaming to preserve the sweetness of the crab, the meat is separated, shredded, and dried; seasoned according to a special recipe, then packaged and labeled… From 3-3.5 kg of crabs, about 1 kg of crab meat is obtained; 2.5-2.8 kg of meat can make 1 kg of crab floss. Ms. Kim Hoa's product won third prize in the competition.
The Organizing Committee awarded the first prize to the project "Raising and harvesting stingless bees in fruit orchards combined with growing medicinal herbs" by Mr. Nguyen Trung Thanh, residing in Thoi Son ward. Several other prizes were awarded to the projects: "SỆT - a dipping sauce made from pandan leaves" by Mr. Trinh Minh Khang, residing in Tan Chau ward; "Cultivating organic edible and medicinal mushrooms using high-tech agricultural methods" by Mr. Tran Bao Linh, residing in Cho Vam commune; "Vietnamese mushroom green ring and products" by Mr. Nguyen Tuan Kiet, residing in Phu An commune; "Growing hydroponic cantaloupe in greenhouses" by Ms. Do Thi Thuy Duong; and "Handicrafts from dried water hyacinth" by Ms. Nhan Thi Bao Ngoc, both residing in Cho Vam commune.
Ms. Truong Thanh Thuy, Director of the Provincial Youth Entrepreneurship Support Center, assessed: “Many projects are excellent, leveraging the potential and advantages of the locality; showcasing the youthful energy of the contestants; applying innovation and creativity, and bringing practical results… In particular, some projects bring value to society, helping people build sustainable livelihood models to escape poverty in the locality. Through the competition, we create motivation and encourage the entrepreneurial spirit among young people, helping them to be confident and continue to innovate.”
The An Giang Province Startup Innovation Ideas Competition is one of the major annual events. The competition's results contribute to spreading the entrepreneurial spirit, providing knowledge, and honoring innovative startup ideas. Simultaneously, it creates opportunities to access and support promising startup ideas; builds a startup community, helping young people exchange, learn, and support each other's development to contribute to the overall development of the province. Winning projects and ideas will receive support and advice, product refinement, market access, and project/idea linkages with relevant agencies, helping young people perfect their products.
