A MiG-31 fighter jet crashed during a training flight in Russia's Far East, off the coast of Kamchatka, the country's Pacific Fleet said. The aircraft had previously gone missing over the waters of Avacha Bay. The condition of the crew is currently unknown.
"The plane was not carrying ammunition," the Russian military said, according to RT.

The military has dispatched search and rescue teams to the crash site to search for the crew and aircraft debris.
Other details regarding the accident, as well as its cause, have not yet been disclosed.
The MiG-31 is a two-seat, supersonic interceptor fighter aircraft capable of operating in a wide range of weather conditions. It is equipped with a 23 mm six-barreled cannon and is adapted to carry various air-to-air and air-to-ground missiles, bombs, and hypersonic ballistic missiles.
