According to statistics, the whole country has over 1.16 million candidates taking the high school graduation exam in 2025, an increase of nearly 100,000 compared to last year.
This year's high school graduation exam is more special as it is organized for two groups of candidates, of which more than 1.13 million students will take the exam according to the 2018 generaleducation program (also known as the new program), and the remaining 25,000 students will take the exam according to the 2006 program (old program).
Candidates taking the new program will take four exams including math, literature and two elective subjects in foreign languages, chemistry, physics, biology, history, geography, economic and legal education, information technology, and technology (agriculture, industry).
Candidates of the old program take exams in math, literature, foreign language and a combination exam in natural sciences (chemistry, physics, biology) or social sciences (history, geography, civics).
According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, the examination boards of provinces and cities will carry out the work of marking the high school graduation exams until July 13 (summarizing the marking, sending data to the Ministry of Education and Training, comparing the exam results). At exactly 8:00 a.m. on July 16, the examination boards will announce the exam scores.
Departments of education and training must complete high school graduation exams by July 18 at the latest, and high school principals must issue temporary graduation certificates, return transcripts, and related certificates (originals) to candidates by July 22 at the latest.
Candidates who want to review their exam papers should send their applications to the exam registration units from July 16 to July 25. The review will be completed by August 3 at the latest, and graduation recognition after the review will be considered by August 8 at the latest.
Departments of education and training must send the list of candidates recognized as graduates to the Ministry of Education and Training no later than August 15.
