On the evening of October 19 local time, within the framework of attending the Third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation held in China, President Vo Van Thuong met with Politburo Standing Committee member, Secretary of the Secretariat, and Chief of the Central Office of the Communist Party of China Cai Qi.
Vietnam and China respect each other
At the meeting, the two sides appreciated the positive developments in the relationship between the two Parties and the two countries in recent times.
In particular, since the historic official visit to China by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong (late October, early November 2022), high-level and all-level exchanges and contacts have taken place vigorously, achieving many important new results, and political trust has been strengthened.
Economic and trade cooperation between the two countries has been promoted, with Chinese investment in Vietnam reaching a new high.
According to the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the meeting on October 19, President Vo Van Thuong and Mr. Thai Ky discussed specific measures to implement the agreement of the top leaders of the two Parties and two countries, continuing to promote and deepen the friendship and cooperation in all fields.
President Vo Van Thuong affirmed that Vietnam and China are close neighbors, with similarities in political institutions, development paths and goals of building socialism.
Vietnam attaches importance to consolidating and developing the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership with China, considering this a strategic choice and top priority in Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization and diversification.

Proposing China to increase investment in major projects
Regarding trade and investment, the President suggested that China continue to facilitate the expansion of imports of Vietnamese agricultural products and increase investment in Vietnam with large projects that represent China's level of development.
Vietnam also proposed that China strengthen cooperation in connecting road and railway infrastructure and promote digital economic cooperation, improve capacity for developing digital infrastructure and digital human resources.
Based on the high-level common perception, the President suggested that the two sides control and satisfactorily resolve disagreements and existing issues in bilateral relations in accordance with the United Nations Charter and international law, for the benefit of the people of the two countries, for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region.
For his part, Mr. Thai Ky affirmed that Vietnam and China are important neighbors, sharing broad common interests.
China always considers Vietnam a priority in its neighborly diplomacy, and is willing to work with Vietnam to strengthen strategic exchanges, promote and orient the relationship between the two Parties and two countries to continuously develop sustainably and long-term.
The Secretary of the Chinese Secretariat agreed to promote the expansion of economic and trade cooperation, connect transport infrastructure, and cooperate in the digital economy.
He also agreed to encourage Chinese enterprises to continue expanding investment in Vietnam, improve the frequency and quality of cooperation between localities and actively contribute to the development of bilateral relations./.
