President Luong Cuong inspects the general rehearsal of the signing ceremony and the High-level Conference of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime.

On the morning of October 23, at the National Convention Center, President Luong Cuong inspected the rehearsal for the signing ceremony and the High-Level Conference of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime.

Also attending the inspection were Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son, leaders of central ministries, branches and Hanoi city.

At the rehearsal, the President inspected and listened to the units performing the tasks report on the overall signing ceremony and the High-Level Conference of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime; including the script for the Opening Session, the plan to welcome international delegations; the content and progress of preparing the welcoming art program; the detailed script for the Opening Session; bilateral activities; the plan to organize for reporters and domestic and international press agencies to work and other related activities.

After checking and listening to reports, President Luong Cuong assessed this as a particularly important event; of profound political and foreign significance; marking the first time a global multilateral Convention in a field of great interest to the international community is associated with the name of Vietnam's capital Hanoi.

Acknowledging, praising and appreciating the responsibility and proactive and thoughtful preparation work as assigned by ministries, branches and units; at the same time, to better prepare according to the approved project, the President requested relevant agencies and units, according to their functions and tasks, to continue to carefully review the entire scenario, especially the ritual, reception, security and communication sections, to ensure that the signing ceremony and the summit take place solemnly and thoughtfully, demonstrating the image of Vietnam being proactive, professional and friendly in international integration; at the same time, promptly handle arising issues within their authority, ensuring the progress and quality of preparation.

The President also noted that the reception of international delegations must demonstrate a spirit of hospitality and respect; technical, logistics and security units must coordinate closely, contributing to the overall success of the event. Along with that, the signing ceremony and this summit are also an opportunity to introduce to international friends about the country and people of Vietnam, Vietnam's achievements as well as the relationship between Vietnam and the United Nations; affirming that Vietnam is an active, responsible member, accompanying and steadfast in the goals of the United Nations; therefore, information and propaganda work needs to accurately and fully reflect the meaning and stature of the event, contributing to enhancing the image, role and position of Vietnam in the international arena.

The adoption of the Convention against Cybercrime by the United Nations General Assembly (December 2024) and the opening ceremony in Hanoi are vivid demonstrations of the sense of responsibility of nations in protecting cyberspace - the common property of all mankind. This event is not simply a legal procedure, but also a platform to promote dialogue, share experiences, strengthen partnerships between governments, international organizations, the private sector and become a forum to promote the implementation of the United Nations Convention and global cooperation in combating cybercrime.

The Convention sets out the legal framework for international cooperation in the fight against cybercrime, ensuring that member countries, especially developing and vulnerable countries, are supported and have enhanced capacity to deal with this type of crime.

This will be a historic milestone, affirming the value of multilateralism with the United Nations at its center, sending a strong message about our determination to fight cybercrime and build a peaceful, fair, and rule-of-law world, for the benefit of today's and future generations.
