With limited operating funds, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Club has relied heavily on young players competing in professional leagues, including the youth players from the Juventus Vietnam Academy (now BMG Academy).
Under the guidance of coach Nguyen Minh Phuong, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Club was fortunate to avoid relegation last season, finishing 10th out of 11 teams in the 2024-2025 First Division League.
However, the team's future in the 2025-2026 First Division remains uncertain as coach Nguyen Minh Phuong has parted ways due to the expiration of his contract.
Ba Ria - Vung Tau FC has lost seven more players from the list of 18 young players that Ho Chi Minh City FC is sending to Brazil for long-term training over three years, scheduled to begin in August.
This is a collaborative program between Ho Chi Minh City FC and Gremio, a leading club in Brazil and South America, which the club's leadership hopes will create a new generation of talented players for the future.

For the second half of the 2024-2025 First Division season, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Club registered 26 players. Seven players, sent to Brazil for training by Ho Chi Minh City Club, have all played extensively for Ba Ria - Vung Tau Club.
Specifically, goalkeeper Nguyen Tan (born in 2005), who is 1.93m tall, played in 10 matches, and goalkeeper Hoa Xuan Tin (born in 2008), who is 1.87m tall, started in 6 matches out of a total of 20 matches in the 2024-2025 First Division League. Both goalkeepers previously played for the national U22 and U17 teams.
Defender Le Kha Duc (2007) played 17 matches, Truong Nhac Minh (2006, 1.83m tall) played 19 matches, and Nguyen Hong Quang (2008) played 5 matches.
Midfielder Vo Tuan Phong (2006) played 19 matches and scored 1 goal; Pham Minh Quan (2008) played 6 matches.
The 2025-2026 First Division League will open on September 19th. There is still plenty of time between now and the opening to allow the leadership of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Club to scout and strengthen their squad.
The head coach position isn't a problem either, as there are quite a few coaches who aren't currently managing any team, such as Phung Thanh Phuong, Hua Hien Vinh, Lu Dinh Tuan, etc.
Let's just hope that the newly merged Ho Chi Minh City, after joining Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau, won't have to witness one of its own football teams disbanding!
