When will the second facility of Viet Duc Hospital and Bach Mai Hospital be operational?

On the afternoon of December 20th, at a press conference, Mr. Le Duc Luan, Deputy Minister of Health, provided information on the progress of the construction of the second facilities for Viet Duc and Bach Mai hospitals.

Currently, in terms of construction, the second facility of Bach Mai Hospital is 97% complete, with 3% remaining; the second facility of Viet Duc Hospital is also 85% complete, with only 15% remaining... Since construction was temporarily halted in 2020, the Viet Duc Hospital project has now resumed construction.

Mr. Luan stated that the complex obstacles relate to the contract implementation process, contract signing, and project deployment, with some aspects not complying with regulations in decrees and circulars. Therefore, through the review process, the Ministry of Health proposed to the Government, based on these obstacles, to develop specific mechanisms and policies to resolve the difficulties and obstacles. Only by applying these mechanisms and policies can the difficulties and obstacles be overcome and the project continue to be implemented.

According to Deputy Minister Le Duc Luan, the Ministry of Health is coordinating with other ministries and agencies to finalize the content related to the Government 's Resolution to address this issue. After resolving these difficulties and obstacles, the projects will be accelerated.

Besides the construction progress reaching nearly 100%, regarding medical equipment, according to Mr. Luan, "for medical equipment projects approved in 2014-2015, we will review and compare the implementation with the actual situation and organize the procurement of medical equipment, each project worth nearly 1,000 billion VND. The goal is that if the difficulties and obstacles are accepted by the competent authorities, we will complete the construction in 2025."

Regarding the second facilities of these two hospitals, in November 2024, the Prime Minister requested that within six months, the Ministry of Health must complete and hand over the two second facilities for operation.
