Young civil servants and public employees volunteer for the community

The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Can Tho City People's Committee (abbreviated as the City People's Committee Youth Union) was established in September 2025, including 68 Youth Union bases, with nearly 7,400 members. The majority of Youth Union members are civil servants, public employees and workers at agencies, public service units, schools and enterprises. Promoting the professional strengths of the team of civil servants, public employees and young workers, in the past 3 months, the youth of the City People's Committee have carried out many activities and movements to be proactive and creative for community life.

In celebration of the Congress of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Can Tho City for the 2025-2030 term, at the end of November 2025, the City People's Committee Youth Union launched the movement "Youth in Action for a Civilized Urban Area". Accordingly, 100% of the Youth Unions strive to establish a youth volunteer team, regularly clean the environment, and propagate the prevention of plastic waste. Each Youth Union carries out at least 1 project or task to welcome the Youth Union Congress at all levels, associated with the construction of a civilized urban area.

Can Tho City People's Committee Youth Union and Ninh Kieu Ward Youth Union release fish to restore aquatic resources on Hau River.

Responding to the movement, all affiliated youth unions simultaneously launched a general environmental cleaning campaign in the campuses of agencies, units and historical and cultural relics in the city. The City People's Committee Youth Union coordinated with the Soc Trang Ward Youth Union to carry out a project called "Green - Clean - Beautiful Road"; coordinated with the Ninh Kieu Ward Youth Union to donate 10 trash bins to be placed at community activity sites, general environmental cleaning of the Ninh Kieu wharf area and release fish to regenerate aquatic resources on the Hau River (worth 20 million VND).

Ms. Phan Anh Trang, Secretary of the City People's Committee Youth Union, said: "Youth organizations based on their professional strengths such as the medical sector established volunteer teams to support patients; departments, branches and schools established volunteer teams to "say no to plastic waste, respond to climate change", teams to propagate digital transformation, transfer of scientific and technological advances. At the same time, continue to maintain models of self-governing youth, providing legal advice to people."

Typically, the Youth Union of Soc Trang General Hospital, from 2020 up to now, has annually organized the program "Warm Spring", giving gifts to 1,650 patients in difficult circumstances; the program "Mid-Autumn Festival of Love", "Warm Winter - Full Tet", "Zero-VND Market", and voluntary blood donation activities have brought joy and sharing to patients and relatives right at the hospital bed...

Mr. Nguyen Cong Khang, Secretary of the Youth Union of Soc Trang General Hospital, shared: “In the past 5 years, the hospital's youth organized 30 medical examinations, provided free medicine, and gave gifts to more than 2,240 patients from policy families and those in difficult circumstances in remote, isolated, and disadvantaged communes. This activity contributes to educating medical ethics for young doctors and nurses and improving professional skills.”

The Youth Union of Can Tho Central General Hospital has effectively maintained the model of "Supporting Patients". From 2022 to present, the "Supporting Patients" Team has organized more than 28 outpatient support sessions. The team performs tasks such as assisting patients in getting their examination queue numbers; consulting and guiding patients through medical examination registration procedures; guiding patients to examination rooms as well as rooms for testing, ultrasound, X-ray, etc.

Huynh Cuong Ethnic Boarding High School's Youth Union has established many clubs based on interests: arts, sports, ethnic culture, favorite subjects, traditional musical instruments. The clubs are both useful playgrounds and create opportunities for students to develop their talents and strengths.

According to Ms. Phan Anh Trang, Secretary of the City People's Committee Youth Union, in the 2025-2030 term, the youth of the City People's Committee identified two breakthrough tasks: pioneering digital transformation, administrative reform and promoting the role of civil servants, public employees and young workers in advising on policy making, contributing to building a clean and strong Party and government. Regarding the volunteer movement, the Youth Union at all levels continues to build and expand specialized volunteer teams, associated with the specific professional tasks of each industry, field and enterprise (health, natural resources and environment, construction...). At the same time, maintain and promote the effectiveness of the models "Youth Volunteers", "Young Doctors' Day following Uncle Ho's teachings to volunteer for community health", "Patient Support Team", "Living Blood Bank", "Volunteer Legal Consulting Team".

Nhiệm kỳ 2025-2030, Đoàn UBND thành phố đề ra 12 chỉ tiêu trọng tâm trong công tác Đoàn và phong trào thanh thiếu nhi. Tiêu biểu: phấn đấu thực hiện 550 công trình, phần việc thanh niên các cấp; hơn 80% đoàn viên, thanh niên tham gia các hoạt động nâng cao năng lực số, năng lực sử dụng khoa học công nghệ do Đoàn tổ chức... Các cấp bộ Đoàn phấn đấu hỗ trợ 3 dự án khởi nghiệp đổi mới sáng tạo; duy trì và đảm bảo tỷ lệ đoàn kết tập hợp thanh niên là 75%; phấn đấu giới thiệu 1.000 đoàn viên ưu tú cho Đảng xem xét kết nạp.
