Thanh Hoa Trade Union - a reliable support for union members and workers

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - 96 years ago, on July 28, 1929, at house number 15 Hang Non street, Hanoi, under the direction of the Executive Committee of the Indochinese Communist Party, the Red General Confederation of Labor of North Vietnam was officially established, headed by leader Nguyen Duc Canh. The establishment of the Red General Confederation of Labor of North Vietnam was a brilliant milestone, marking a major turning point in the workers' movement and revolutionary trade union activities in Vietnam, affirming the growth of the Vietnamese workers' movement, and the inevitable result of the correct labor movement and the dissemination of revolutionary trade union theory by leader Nguyen Ai Quoc - the one who laid the theoretical, ideological and organizational foundation for the Vietnam Trade Union.

Over 96 years of formation and development, under the leadership and training of the Party and Uncle Ho, following the glorious tradition that has been painstakingly cultivated by generations of cadres and union members..., the Vietnam Trade Union has continuously grown, matured and made great contributions to the great victory of the Vietnamese revolution. In any historical period, the working class and the Vietnam Trade Union have always been steadfast, united, innovative, creative, mobilizing, organizing, guiding union members and workers nationwide to be pioneers in labor, production and revolutionary struggle, worthyly inheriting and further glorifying the heroic tradition of our nation.

As a part of the working class and the Vietnam Trade Union, Thanh Hoa Trade Union always adheres to the political tasks of the Provincial Party Committee and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, effectively organizes revolutionary emulation movements, performs the function of representing and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members, workers, civil servants, and laborers. The contingent of civil servants and laborers and the Thanh Hoa Trade Union organization has continuously grown, from 2,051 union members and 25 grassroots trade unions, to date, Thanh Hoa Trade Union is directly managing 302,891 union members, with 1,049 grassroots trade unions; is a pioneering and shock force in patriotic emulation movements, overcoming all difficulties and challenges, enthusiastically working in production and work, actively contributing to the successful implementation of the province's socio-economic development goals.

Identifying that caring for and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of employees is the top priority of the trade union organization, in recent years, trade unions at all levels in the province have focused on the grassroots level, with many innovations and creativity in the content and methods of operation, bringing many practical benefits to union members and employees. Trade unions at all levels closely follow the production and business situation in enterprises, participate in solving employment, removing difficulties, maintaining production, implementing policies for workers when rearranging production; at the same time, well organize the implementation of democratic regulations at the grassroots level, promote the collective intelligence of employees in all work of agencies, units and enterprises. Direct the grassroots trade unions to coordinate with heads and professionals to organize conferences to implement democratic regulations, and strengthen dialogue at enterprises.

In the first 6 months of 2025, 778 trade unions of enterprises and units outside the state sector participated in issuing grassroots democracy regulations; 75 enterprises with trade unions signed collective labor agreements; 38 enterprises proposed and negotiated with employers to adjust the value of shift meals to over 18,000 VND. Trade unions participated with employers in developing regulations on salary, bonus, and labor norms; proposed solutions to improve working conditions; cared for the lives of union members and employees; organized cultural, sports , and social activities in agencies, units, and enterprises; and supervised the implementation of collective labor agreements.

In addition, trade unions at all levels have widely deployed and launched emulation movements such as: "Good worker, creative worker"; "Good at public work, good at home work", "Green, clean, beautiful, ensuring occupational safety and hygiene"; "Pioneering workers and employees to realize the aspiration of building a civilized and prosperous Thanh Hoa homeland"... The emulation movements have attracted a large number of union members and workers to participate in promoting initiatives, improving techniques in production and business, improving productivity, reducing production costs, and building a culture of occupational safety at the workplace. As a result, 1,050 individuals have achieved the title of "Emulation Fighter at the grassroots level"; 32 individuals have been awarded the Certificate of Creative Labor by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; 1 collective and 2 outstanding individuals have been proposed for a Certificate of Merit from the Government; 2 individuals have been proposed for a Third-class Labor Medal.

The work of developing union members, establishing grassroots trade unions and trade unions has been focused on with many new approaches, focusing on the non-state enterprise sector and the informal sector. In the first 6 months of the year, the whole province has established 46 grassroots trade unions, including 42 grassroots trade unions and 4 grassroots trade unions; developing and increasing by 17,696 union members/37,000 union members, reaching 47.8% of the target assigned by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. The work of building a clean and strong Party and government has been implemented by trade unions at all levels. Trade unions at all levels have introduced 1,592 outstanding union members for the Party to train, of which 576 union members were admitted to the Party.

To meet the requirements and tasks in the new period, Thanh Hoa Trade Union continues to strongly innovate the content and methods of trade union activities in a diverse, flexible, and grassroots direction for the benefit of union members and workers. Launch and widely deploy patriotic emulation movements and campaigns, thereby motivating and encouraging union members and employees to constantly strive in studying, working, promoting initiatives and creativity, contributing to the development of each agency, unit, and enterprise. Continue to focus on promoting propaganda, mobilization, education, and training of cadres, civil servants, and public employees, especially workers and laborers, to improve their professional qualifications, professional skills, political awareness, class awareness, patriotism, national pride, and self-respect, contributing to building an increasingly modern and strong working class.
