Veteran choked up watching Red Rain in the hospital

On a rainy afternoon, the large hall of Da Nang Hospital suddenly became a special movie theater. The movie being shown was also a special one: Red Rain.

Special audience watched the movie Red Rain right at the "cinema" in Da Nang Hospital

Patients being treated were escorted to their seats by volunteers, who offered them drinks and snacks. The atmosphere felt warm, like entering a real movie theater.

The patients' faces were radiant, as if the pain had lessened after hours lying on hospital beds, with medicine and IV needles.

Tears with Red Rain at the "cinema" in the hospital

On December 3 and 4, Da Nang Hospital organized 5 screenings of the film Red Rain by director Dang Thai Huyen (People's Army Cinema) for patients, relatives and medical staff. Nearly 1,000 people attended, creating a rare spiritual activity in the hospital space.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung (75 years old, former border guard of La Ee Station, currently being treated at the geriatric department) could not hide his emotions: "Watching Red Rain while I was being treated made me feel like I was reliving my youth fighting among bombs and bullets.

The images of the soldiers in the film remind me of my comrades - those who fell so that the country can have peace today. I am truly grateful to the hospital for such a humane activity."

In the back row, Mr. Tran Ky (internal medicine patient) who fought in the Cambodian battlefield quietly wiped away his tears. Having been hospitalized for a long time, having a movie theater to entertain him was extremely meaningful to Mr. Ky.

He said that wartime memories flooded back with each frame: "Many scenes made me shiver, as if hearing comrades calling each other amid the smoke and fire. I hope the hospital will organize more screenings like this so that we can share and relive memories, but also to appreciate the present."

Not only patients, but also caregivers and medical staff are excited about this special activity.

A vivid lesson in history and gratitude

Dr. Tran Le Hong, Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of Da Nang Hospital, shared: "For the young generation, Red Rain is not just a movie, but a lesson about history, about gratitude to the previous generation. Seeing the sacrifices that our fathers had to go through, we are more aware of our responsibility in taking care of people's health."

The organizers hope that the program will not only pay tribute to veterans undergoing treatment but also contribute to educating revolutionary traditions and arousing patriotism among young medical staff.

Besides the meaning of gratitude, bringing movies to the hospital also helps patients relax, temporarily forget the pain and pressure of treatment. Patients are often stressed when faced with needles, IV lines and medical equipment.

BSCKII Nguyen Thanh Trung, Deputy Director of Da Nang Hospital, said: "The Red Rain screening program is our way of deeply expressing our gratitude to veterans. At the same time, this is also an opportunity for young staff to foster patriotism and a sense of dedication. The hospital not only treats patients but also wants to take care of their spiritual life, creating a warm and humane treatment environment."
