On the morning of April 7th, 15 cannons were fully installed on a red carpet along the Saigon River (Bach Dang Wharf area). This is one of the key events of the 50th anniversary celebration of the reunification of the country.
The cannons are positioned in the park, opposite Nguyen Hue pedestrian street, to ensure unobstructed views and a solemn atmosphere, while also allowing locals and tourists to visit.
Fifteen 105 mm cannons, each weighing approximately 4-5 tons.
These cannons will fire 21 cannon shots to the tune of the Vietnamese national anthem during the 50th anniversary celebration of the country's reunification.
The area surrounding the artillery emplacement is carefully fenced off and strictly controlled, ensuring absolute security throughout the entire preparation process. Currently, people are allowed to take souvenir photos with the cannons but are not permitted to approach or touch the artifacts.
According to technical requirements, the artillery position must be placed on a stable, level surface to create a uniform explosion when fired. A soldier is checking for alignment.
Alongside the artillery installation, supporting tasks such as setting up temporary tents are also underway.
According to the plan, the 50th anniversary of the reunification of the country will be celebrated solemnly with a parade and march bringing together approximately 13,000 participants, a 21-gun salute to the tune of the Vietnamese national anthem, and a welcoming flight by the air force with helicopters, Yak-130s, and Su-30MK2s.
To facilitate the installation process, five roads will be closed to traffic from 9 PM to midnight or 3 AM the following morning, from April 7th to 26th. On April 27th and 30th, traffic will be restricted during the day.
