According to the doctors' consultation, this was a case of severe spinal trauma, a mechanically unstable fracture, requiring emergency surgery to stabilize and fix the spine using screws. The surgery was successful after 3 hours. The patient's health is currently stable, and they are continuing treatment and monitoring at the hospital.
Dr. Huynh Nhu Dong, Head of the Neurosurgery Department at the Central Highlands Regional General Hospital, said that patient H. does not have health insurance, comes from a disadvantaged family, and the treatment and surgery are very expensive. The department is currently requesting support from the hospital's Nursing Department's social work team to assist this case.
Earlier, on the afternoon of November 23rd, Ms. H. was working as a coffee picker for a household in Ea H'leo commune when she accidentally slipped and fell into an abandoned well in the field. The well contained water and was about 15 meters deep, but the opening was covered with trees and weeds, making it difficult to detect. Upon receiving the report, the local authorities and the Ea H'leo district forces arrived to rescue the victim from the well, who was suffering from multiple injuries.
