'In the process of surprise inspection'

Recently, there has been a lot of public discussion in Thai Binh province regarding the results of the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2024-2025 school year, both in the initial results and the results of the review process.

Previously, in mid-June 2024, when the exam results were announced by Thai Binh province, many parents, teachers, and students who took the exam in the province expressed surprise, believing that the scores did not accurately reflect the candidates' performance.

Many students subsequently submitted applications for a review of their exam papers.

On July 16th, when the results of the exam re-evaluation were announced, public opinion in the province was once again stirred up by the fact that the scores for various subjects, especially mathematics and literature, differed significantly from the scores given earlier.

Some people have submitted petitions to the responsible authorities, expressing their disagreement with the grading process in the aforementioned exam in the province.

Several cases of unusually altered scores after re-evaluation in the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2024-2025 school year in Thai Binh province have been compiled by citizens and submitted along with letters to the relevant authorities.

According to reports from citizens and letters sent to responsible agencies, there are cases such as candidate number 2604xx who scored 3.75 in Mathematics, but after a review of the grading, their score "skyrocketed" to 9.5.

Candidate number 2604xx initially scored 4 points in Literature, but after a review, their score "jumped" to 7.5 points.

Candidate number 2700xx, who had previously won second prize in Mathematics at the Thai Binh provincial-level excellent student competition, only scored 5.5 points in the subject in the recent exam. After the re-evaluation, the score "skyrocketed" to 9.5 points...

The headquarters of the Department of Education and Training of Thai Binh province is one of the agencies where citizens sent letters expressing their disagreement with the grading process in the recent 10th grade entrance exam in the province.

Regarding the incident, on July 29th, in an interview with the press, Mr. Pham Van Nghiem, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thai Binh province, stated that the provincial leadership is directing the handling of the matter.

On the same day, in an exchange with the press, Mr. Nguyen Viet Hien, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Thai Binh province, said that regarding the incident, following the province's directive, the Department of Education and Training is in the process of coordinating with the Provincial Police and the Provincial Inspectorate to review and conduct a surprise inspection. Once specific results are available, they will respond to the citizens' petitions and provide detailed information to the press.

Regarding the report from the Department of Education and Training of Thai Binh province to the Provincial People's Committee concerning the incident, the Director of the Department of Education and Training of Thai Binh province, Nguyen Viet Hien, stated that this is a confidential report and cannot be provided to the press.
