With the goal of urban beautification in a civilized and modern direction, creating momentum for socio -economic development, recently, Thai Nguyen City has invested hundreds of billions of VND to renovate, upgrade and complete the urban infrastructure system.

From the end of 2022 to now, using the local budget, Thai Nguyen City has invested over 27 billion VND to implement the project to renovate and upgrade Thong Nhat and Hoang Ngan streets. Both projects are invested by the City Urban Public Service Management Board.
In particular, the project to renovate and upgrade Thong Nhat Street (section from the North-South intersection to the intersection with Phan Dinh Phung Street, in Dong Quang and Gia Sang wards) has a total investment of 15 billion VND, starting construction in November 2022.
When completed and put into use last May, the entire sidewalk on both sides of the road was paved with concrete bricks, Sala trees were planted to create shade, replacing old royal poinciana and dracontomelon trees; the drainage system was repaired.
In addition, the highlight of this Project is that many high-voltage electrical items, household electricity, information systems, and lighting systems are buried underground on the route. Thanks to that, the route becomes clear, without the "matrix" of tangled electrical wires and information cables that spoil the urban beauty and pose the risk of electrical short circuits and fires.
Mr. Hoang Van Ngoc, in Group 1, Gia Sang Ward, excitedly said: This street is one of the gateways leading to the city center. Now the streets are much more spacious and clean, we, the people, are all happy.
Along with Thong Nhat Street, Hoang Ngan Street is also being renovated and upgraded to ensure urban aesthetics and infrastructure to serve socio-economic development. At this time, Hoang Mam Company Limited - the construction unit - is mobilizing maximum machinery and construction personnel, striving to complete and put the project into use by the end of June 2023.

According to information from the Thai Nguyen City Urban Public Service Management Board: The Hoang Ngan Street renovation and upgrade project has a total investment of over 12 billion VND, drawn from the city budget. The project includes the following main items: Pavement with imitation stone concrete bricks, plant additional trees, repair drainage, lay cables in preparation for undergrounding power lines and communication lines.
Mr. Mai Xuan Thang, a resident of Group 19, Phan Dinh Phung Ward, who has a business on Hoang Ngan Street, said: Previously, the sidewalks on this street were narrow and sunken, some places were high and some were low, affecting people's travel. Since being renovated and upgraded, the sidewalks have become much more spacious, clean, flat, and worthy of urban areas.
According to Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hanh, an officer of the Thai Nguyen City Urban Public Service Management Board: Currently, the City People's Committee is requesting the unit to review and make preliminary statistics of some central routes, develop financial plans, and design technical plans to upgrade the routes in the coming time. For completed and put into use projects, we will coordinate with the Electricity industry and network operators to operate effectively and promptly handle any situations that arise.

In addition to the above two projects, in recent times, the urban infrastructure system has been invested in by the Party Committee and the Thai Nguyen City government in a smart, modern, bright - green - clean - beautiful direction. Many roads in the city center (such as: Hoang Van Thu, Doi Can, Bac Kan , Hung Vuong, Nha Trang, Duong Tu Minh...) have been invested in, renovated, upgraded, ensuring environmental sanitation, consistent with the general architecture and urban architecture.
This is also considered a correct policy, in line with the people's wishes, creating a driving force for socio-economic development, contributing to building Thai Nguyen City worthy of being a central urban area of the Northern midlands and mountainous region.
However, in reality, although sidewalks are invested with the goal of serving pedestrians, sidewalks on many streets are currently being occupied for parking and business purposes, making the urban appearance somewhat shabby. Not to mention, sidewalks are designed for pedestrians, so when heavy trucks are parked for a long time, it will cause subsidence, cracking, and deterioration on some streets.
To build a bright - green - clean - beautiful, civilized and modern city, it is necessary for people to have a sense of responsibility in protecting infrastructure and maintaining environmental hygiene. |
Mr. Bui Xuan Viet, in group 4, Tuc Duyen ward, confided: The sidewalks are invested to be clean, beautiful, and spacious for pedestrians, but I see that many spaces are currently occupied for parking and business purposes. I think the main reason is that some people's awareness of law enforcement is not good, along with the need for parking and large business while the infrastructure has not kept up, causing the situation of encroachment on the sidewalks and roadsides on the streets to become common.
Mr. Viet's sharing is also the opinion reflected by many people in Thai Nguyen City during voter meetings. It is known that since 2021, Thai Nguyen City has developed a plan to collect temporary fees for using roads and sidewalks, which has been supported by most people as well as local authorities. Because this plan not only helps ensure urban aesthetics but also contributes to increasing revenue for the local budget.
However, up to now, the above plan has not been unanimously appraised by relevant sectors to submit to the Provincial People's Committee for approval, so for the past 2 years it has only been "on paper". On the other hand, if the plan to temporarily collect business fees on the sidewalk is implemented, it is still necessary for people to raise their sense of responsibility in protecting urban infrastructure, maintaining environmental hygiene, and joining hands to build a bright - green - clean - beautiful, civilized and modern urban area.
