According to a report by FVG Group Joint Stock Company, in the urban-tourism-cultural development strategy for the western part of Da Nang city, Ben Hien commune (formerly Ma Cooih and Ka Dang communes, old Dong Giang district) plays a particularly important role.

This area possesses rich potential but has not been comprehensively exploited. Located right in the center of the Hoi An - My Son - Dong Giang Heaven's Gate connecting route, it is part of the key development corridor recently announced within the framework of the Quang Nam 2025 International Travel Conference with the theme "Heritage Route: Where Nature and Culture Harmonize".

According to the development plan for this heritage corridor, Ben Hien is not merely a transit point, but is identified as a strategic stopover, with the potential to develop into a distinctive satellite city linked to the Co Tu cultural identity and the natural forest and mountain ecosystem, while also creating living spaces, facilitating trade, and reviving the local economy.

In the approved master plan, the central area of Ben Hien commune - where the project is proposed to be implemented - has been identified as the administrative, service, and residential center, adjacent to the commune's People's Committee headquarters and bordering two major transportation routes: the Ho Chi Minh Highway and provincial road DT609.

However, the current reality is that there are no large-scale public spaces, local markets are small and scattered, and there is a lack of architectural highlights and model new residential areas to attract people to settle and develop the local economy...

Arising from the aforementioned urgent development needs, the Ben Hien Tourist Urban Area project is proposed for investment with the orientation of creating a model satellite urban area, fully integrating residential, commercial, park, service, and tourism functions, becoming the nucleus of urban-commercial-service development for the commune center, a stopover point to promote cultural identity, serving tourists on the heritage route, contributing to creating a quality living space, community life, and livelihoods for the people.

According to local authorities, the proposed investment in the Ben Hien Tourist Urban Area is entirely consistent with the urban development orientation of the western region of Da Nang city, contributing to the concretization of the strategy to expand the heritage space along the Hoi An - My Son - Dong Giang axis with indigenous urban areas that have identity, functions, and infrastructure serving tourism and the community.

The Ben Hien Tourist Urban Area project covers approximately 30.4 hectares, encompassing functional areas already outlined in the master plan, including: the Ma Cooih market area, the central commune park, a new residential area, and an upgraded existing residential area. The total investment is approximately 290 billion VND, with an expected implementation period from 2025 to 2030.
