Proposed roadmap for bidding to convert electric buses

Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong requested the Department of Construction to coordinate in reviewing projects related to emission control, propose solutions and a roadmap for bidding to convert electric buses and build charging stations, to be completed before August 15.

Regarding the policy of converting public passenger transport vehicles to electric buses, green energy, and assessing the progress of several green transformation tasks in the transportation sector, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Office has issued a document conveying the directive of Vice Chairman Bui Xuan Cuong, requesting the Department of Construction to coordinate the review of projects related to emission control, propose solutions and a bidding roadmap for converting to electric buses, and build charging stations, to be completed before August 15th.

In addition, finalize the Project on Controlling Vehicle Emissions (Phase 1), advise on the roadmap and policies to support the conversion to electric buses; and urgently implement Phase 2 for other modes of transport, to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2025. Simultaneously, develop management policies such as standards and unit prices for electric buses, an integrated electronic ticketing system; and implement a green transportation program in Con Dao and Can Gio in September 2025.

Regarding the proposal from the Ho Chi Minh City Institute for Development Research to convert two-wheeled vehicles used by ride-hailing and delivery drivers to electric vehicles, the Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee instructed the institute to urgently organize a workshop to gather expert opinions and finalize the report for submission to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee in September.
