On October 20, Amazon's cloud computing service - Amazon Web Services (AWS) - experienced a problem, causing connection disruptions for many companies around the world , as well as disrupting the services of some popular websites and applications such as Fortnite and Snapchat.

In a statement, AWS confirmed the issue caused "increased errors and latency" for many services in the Eastern United States.

Artificial intelligence (AI) startups like Perplexity, cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase, and trading app Robinhood blamed the outage on AWS.

According to monitoring website Downdetector, the shopping site, along with Amazon's PrimeVideo and Alexa services, video game sites Fortnite, Roblox, Clash Royale and Clash of Clans, as well as some financial platforms Paypal's Venmo and Chime, all reported connectivity issues.

Thousands of users in the US were also unable to access the Lyft app (Uber's rival). Similarly, messaging app Signal confirmed on social network X that its platform was affected by the AWS outage.

AWS is a cloud computing platform that provides on-demand computing, data storage, and many other digital services to a wide range of entities including companies, governments , and individuals.

When the company's servers go down, it affects websites and platforms that depend on AWS infrastructure.

AWS is competing with cloud computing services from Google and Microsoft./.
