According to 7News , the South Australian education authority hopes that the Vietnamese international students who mysteriously disappeared in Adelaide will call the police to report their situation.

The South Australian Education Authority said: "The disappearance has caused concern among those involved and we hope those students will contact the police to ensure their well-being."

Previously, South Australian State Police (SAPOL) launched an investigation into the disappearance of five Vietnamese students in Adelaide between December 2023 and January 2024.

According to 7News , all five Vietnamese teenagers are believed to be attending Hamilton High School in the suburbs of Adelaide, South Australia.

Each person disappeared at a different time, with one person having been missing for four weeks.

The most recent missing person is 17-year-old Sunnie Nguyen, who was last seen at her host family's home in South Plympton (a suburb of Adelaide) on January 8th.

SAPOL stated that police units are coordinating to locate the teenagers. The disappearances are being handled separately, and police believe they are unrelated.

On January 11th, police announced they had located one of the missing students. However, the whereabouts of the other four remain unknown.

An Australian police spokesperson said: "All current investigations suggest that some of the children may have traveled to another state and remain there. There is also no information indicating that they are in danger."

The police believe that some of these Vietnamese students may have traveled to another state and are safe.

Sunnie Nguyen's host family told police that she seemed happy living in Adelaide and had no reason to run away. Furthermore, her visa was still valid for another three years.

Australian media reported that Ms. Zervaas later tried to contact Sunnie Nguyen, but her phone was switched off and her Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok accounts had been deleted.

Lien Nguyen-Navas, a representative of the Vietnamese Women's Association in Adelaide, "hopes that this is just a case of 17-year-olds wanting to gather somewhere without telling anyone because they are on school break."
