The Vietnam Kickboxing Federation (KBV) sent the strongest force to the Asian tournament in Cambodia from October 4 to 14. After many days of competition, Vietnam had 21 boxers in 22 final events. On the first final day on October 12, Vietnamese boxing won 6 gold medals including Bui Thi Yen Nhi (48kg, women's lowkick), Pham Huynh Yen My (60kg, women's lowkick), Dinh Thi Hoa (65kg, women's lowkick), Le Thi Nhi (52kg, women's fullcontact), Nguyen Ngoc Ngan (56kg, women's fullcontact), Tran Vo Song Thuong (60kg, women's fullcontact). The most impressive victory among the 6 gold medals was boxer Dinh Thi Hoa. It took her less than 1 minute to knock out her Indonesian opponent. KBV General Secretary and head coach of the Vietnamese kickboxing team, Mr. Duong Ngoc Hai, said: "The athletes' victory has demonstrated their professional level as well as their stable performance through the tournaments. This clearly demonstrates the careful preparation process of Vietnamese kickboxing." On October 13, Vietnamese kickboxing will continue to compete in 10 final events of the tournament. The team promises to continue to bring home further victories to exceed the target. The target of Vietnamese kickboxing before the tournament was only 2-3 gold medals. However, the team won 6 on the first final day and far exceeded the initial target. The Vietnamese kickboxing team went to the tournament with 9 coaches and 32 boxers, competing in 34 events (2 boxers in 2 events) including ring and mat events.
