US businesses support semiconductor technology transfer to Gia Lai

(Dan Tri) - The Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee believes that with the capacity and dedication of all parties, Gia Lai will soon become one of the centers of the semiconductor and artificial intelligence industry in Vietnam.

The Department of Science and Technology of Gia Lai province, Quy Nhon University and TORmem Company (USA) have officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement, opening the door to the development of the semiconductor and artificial intelligence (AI) industry in the locality.

According to the content of the agreement signed on August 21, TORmem Company will play a consulting role and support units of Gia Lai province in receiving and transferring technology, especially in the company's strong areas.

In the immediate future, the focus will be on supporting Quy Nhon University to invest in a modern semiconductor laboratory, in line with development trends, and at the same time implement specialized human resource training programs on semiconductors and AI.

In addition, TORmem also committed to supporting Gia Lai province in implementing breakthrough initiatives such as building large-scale data centers, implementing pilot projects (PoC) and building prototype semiconductor chip factories.

This enterprise will also research and cooperate with local enterprises to develop information technology and semiconductor industrial products, aiming to invest in and build factories and research and development centers in line with the company's strategy.

The agreement also includes support for the province in investment promotion activities, promoting the image and potential for IT industry development, as well as connecting Gia Lai with leading experts, businesses, and research centers in the field of information technology and semiconductors in the United States and other developed countries.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan, Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, expressed his welcome for the quick and practical steps of TORmem Company.

Mr. Tuan emphasized that the signing of this agreement lays a solid foundation, opening up great opportunities for Gia Lai to develop the semiconductor and AI industries. The province is committed to creating the most favorable conditions for the company to effectively implement the signed contents.

“With the capacity, enthusiasm and efforts of all parties, Gia Lai will soon become one of the centers of the semiconductor and AI industry in Vietnam,” Mr. Tuan believes.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested the Department of Science and Technology to closely coordinate with TORmem Company to promptly specify the cooperation contents, provide full information on development orientation, preferential policies and potential of the province.

At the same time, he requested Quy Nhon University to coordinate with TORmem to build a semiconductor laboratory and implement a human resource training program, considering this an important step, creating a solid foundation for sustainable, long-term development for all parties.
