Dinh Thi Temple.
The Đình Thi temple was built in the 16th century in the former Sẹt village – now Trung Thành village, in Yên Cát town, Như Xuân district. According to historical records, Mr. Lê Phúc Thành was a meritorious figure who followed the Lam Sơn rebel army in the early years of the resistance war (1416-1427). After the victory of the resistance war, he was granted land in Sẹt village (approximately 16 km² ). Initially, Sẹt village only had 13 households, and he was the village official in charge of this land.
Mr. Le Phuc Thanh had five children, four sons and one daughter. His eldest son was Le Thien Vinh; the second was Le Huu Xa; the third was Le Ba Thieu; the fourth was Le Dinh My; and his daughter was Le Thi Don. In the 5th year of Quang Thuan (1464) during the reign of King Le Thanh Tong, Mr. Le Phuc Thanh divided his land among his children. His four sons governed four different villages, and during the Le Dynasty, they were all granted the title of "quan lang" (a high-ranking official), had temples built in their honor, and received royal decrees.
In 1995, Dinh Thi was recognized as a provincial-level historical and cultural relic by the Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province. In 2024, the Dinh Thi Festival was recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Decision No. 3998/QD-BVHTTDL dated December 10, 2024.
The leaders of Nhu Xuan district delivered the opening speech at the festival.
The Dinh Thi Festival aims to commemorate the merits of our ancestors who contributed to building villages and communities, preserving and promoting cultural heritage values, contributing to the education of homeland traditions, raising awareness of protecting the nation's cultural heritage, and building cultural life in the ethnic communities in the western region of Thanh Hoa.
At the festival, Mr. Nong Quoc Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Cultural Heritage, and Mr. Dau Thanh Tung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, presented the certificate recognizing the Dinh Thi Festival as a national intangible cultural heritage to the leaders of Nhu Xuan district.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dau Thanh Tung emphasized: The inclusion of the Dinh Thi Festival in the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage is a tribute to a cultural heritage with vibrant vitality; a tribute to the silent, persistent efforts of the community and generations of artisans in preserving, safeguarding, and promoting the value of the heritage; and a promotion of the responsibility of transmitting the heritage between generations and practicing it in contemporary life. This is also an opportunity for the people of Nhu Xuan district to express their gratitude to their ancestors, who, through their creative talents and efforts, have preserved this precious asset, so that it is honored today and will continue to shine in the cultural flow of the nation tomorrow.
To continue revitalizing and strongly spreading the historical and cultural values of the Dinh Thi Festival in present and future life, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Party Committee, government, and people of Nhu Xuan district to continue to closely coordinate with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and other relevant units to seriously and effectively implement the work of protecting and promoting the value of the heritage, creating a stronger spread of historical and cultural values even more widely in the community.
The Party Committee, government, and people of Nhu Xuan district need to recognize that preserving, conserving, and developing the Dinh Thi Festival is not only the responsibility of the artisans and people in the heritage area, but also the responsibility of the entire ethnic community in Nhu Xuan district. Along with this, it is necessary to promote the application of information technology to widely publicize and introduce the Dinh Thi Festival in particular, and historical and cultural relics and scenic spots in Nhu Xuan district in general, so that the whole province and the whole country will know more about them, thereby fostering greater appreciation and respect for the history, culture, land, and people of Nhu Xuan district. Nhu Xuan district needs to closely coordinate with relevant units to continue transforming heritage into assets, turning potential into resources for local economic development, and improving the material and spiritual lives of the people.
The Secretary of the Nhu Xuan District Party Committee, Luong Thi Hoa, beat the drum to officially open the festival.
The cultural and artistic activities at the festival reflect the unique cultural characteristics of the ethnic groups in Nhu Xuan district.
At the ceremony, after the leaders of Nhu Xuan district beat the drum to officially open the festival, cultural and artistic activities showcasing the unique cultural characteristics of the ethnic groups in Nhu Xuan district were performed, such as gong and drum music, folk songs, and traditional boat-rowing songs.
