Key businesses predict that domestic retail gasoline prices may increase slightly by 250 - 300 VND/liter tomorrow, May 22.
According to regulations, the next gasoline price adjustment period will be May 21. However, because Sunday is a holiday, the regulatory agency will postpone the announcement of the new gasoline price to tomorrow, May 22, the first working day of the week.
Responding to VTC News, Ms. Phung Thi Hong, a distributor of Hong Minh petroleum, a major petroleum enterprise in the Central Highlands region, said: " Gasoline prices may remain the same or increase slightly by 250 - 300 VND/liter. However, the adjustment depends on the fluctuations in world petroleum prices during the last two days of the week and depends on the allocation of the petroleum price stabilization fund and other adjustment fees, if any."

Meanwhile, Mr. Bui Ngoc Bao - Chairman of the Vietnam Petroleum Association said that world oil prices have fluctuated continuously in recent days but have tended to increase in the first trading sessions of the week and decrease slightly in the last two days of the week, May 18-21.
Specifically, at 7:00 a.m. on May 21, the price of WTI oil decreased by 1.22 USD to 71.82 USD/barrel, while the price of Brent oil decreased by 1.71 USD to 75.62 USD/barrel. Although the price of oil in the world has decreased slightly in recent days, the price of oil in the world is still basically 2% higher than the end of last week.
The domestic retail price of gasoline on May 21 was applied according to the May 11 management session of the Ministry of Finance - Industry and Trade. Specifically, the price of RON95 gasoline fell to VND21,000, down VND1,320/liter, and E5 RON92 gasoline was VND20,130, down VND1,300/liter.
Prices of petroleum products also decreased simultaneously. Diesel oil is 17,650 VND/liter, down 600 VND. Kerosene has a new price of 17,970 VND/liter, down 550 VND; fuel oil has a new price of 14,860 VND/kg.
In this adjustment period, the regulatory agency decided to set aside 300 VND/liter for E5 gasoline, RON 95, DO oil, kerosene, and fuel oil. The regulator also decided not to spend the gasoline price stabilization fund, and set aside 500 VND/liter for E5 and RON 95 gasoline, and set aside 300 VND/liter for oil products. Thus, gasoline prices have decreased for the third consecutive time.
Since the beginning of the year, gasoline prices have undergone 14 price adjustments. Of these, 7 have increased, 6 have decreased, and 1 has remained unchanged.
