According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, during last night and early this morning (October 9th), the area from Thua Thien Hue to Binh Thuan , the Central Highlands and the Southern region experienced showers and thunderstorms, with some areas experiencing heavy to very heavy rain.
Rainfall from 7 PM on October 8th to 3 AM on October 9th exceeded 70mm in some areas, such as Binh Phu ( Quang Nam ) with 142.2mm and Tan Binh (Tay Ninh) with 89.2mm, etc.
The meteorological agency forecasts that today (October 9th), the Northern region and Thanh Hoa will have no rain at night, sunny days, and some areas with fog in the early morning.
The area from Quang Tri to Quang Nam will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms, with localized heavy rain in some areas, with rainfall amounts of 20-40mm, and over 80mm in some places. There is a warning of the risk of localized heavy rainfall (>80mm/6h).
The area from Binh Dinh to Binh Thuan, the southern Central Highlands, and the Southern region will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some areas experiencing heavy rain with rainfall amounts ranging from 15-30mm, and some areas exceeding 70mm (thunderstorms will mainly occur in the afternoon and evening).
During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, and strong gusts of wind. Localized heavy rainfall may cause flooding in low-lying areas; flash floods on small rivers and streams, and landslides on slopes.

Currently, showers and thunderstorms are occurring in the eastern part of the North East Sea, the Central and Southern East Sea, the sea area from Quang Tri to Khanh Hoa, Ca Mau to Kien Giang, and the Gulf of Thailand.
The forecast for day and night of October 9th indicates scattered showers and thunderstorms in the northern, central, and southern areas of the East Sea (including the waters around the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos), the sea area from Quang Tri to Ca Mau, Ca Mau to Kien Giang, and the Gulf of Thailand. Tornadoes and strong gusts of wind (level 7-8) are possible during thunderstorms.
Additionally, in the northeastern part of the North East Sea, there are strong northeasterly winds of force 5, sometimes force 6, gusting to force 8; rough seas; and waves 2-3 meters high.
All vessels operating in these areas are at risk of being affected by tornadoes and strong gusts of wind.
