The arrival of Gemini is seen as Google's big effort to turn Smart TV into a smarter entertainment and support center. With Gemini, users can still perform familiar operations such as searching for programs, controlling playback or looking up sports scores.

However, the difference is better natural language processing and ability to answer complex requests. Users can ask questions like: "What new hospital drama is everyone talking about?" or "Suggest a drama with a light comedy for me to watch with my wife." Gemini will make appropriate suggestions.
Not stopping at entertainment, Gemini on Google TV also supports many life situations, from suggesting dinners to cook in an hour to making detailed travel plans.
Gemini's incomplete integration
Despite its many benefits, Gemini still has many limitations in terms of support. Users must own the high-end TCL QM9K TV (starting at $3,000 at Best Buy) to experience it right away.
Google will expand Gemini's availability to a number of other devices later this year, including the Google TV Streamer; Walmart Onn 4K Pro; Hisense U7, U8, UX (2025) and TCL QM7K, QM8K, X11K (2025). It's unclear whether Chromecast or the lower-cost Onn 4K models will be included.

The transition from Google Assistant to Gemini on Wear OS has been pretty seamless, and if the same scenario is repeated on Google TV, it will definitely be a worthwhile upgrade. However, the slow rollout and initial device limitations have kept many users from really "celebrating".
Combined with the newly leaked Google TV interface, Gemini is expected to create a more personalized and intelligent Smart TV experience. But to become the "new standard" in the living room, Google will have to prove that Gemini is more than just a name upgrade.
