Having long harbored the intention of taking photos in a traditional ao dai at the spring market, as soon as the spring rain stopped, Ms. Duong Thi Ngoc Phuong (born in 2002, Binh Lanh commune, Thang Binh district) immediately went to Tam Ky market to "show off" on social media. Wearing a light pink traditional ao dai, Phuong showed off her gentle figure amidst the flower stalls.
Delighted with the photos she took, Ngoc Phuong shared: “I’ve seen the trend of taking photos in ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress) at the spring market for a long time, and now I finally have the time to dress up and go out to take pictures. This is an opportunity for me to capture beautiful moments after a year full of effort and hard work, and these will be wonderful memories of my youth. Wearing an ao dai also helps me feel more confident and highlights the beauty of Vietnamese women.”
From Tra Mai commune (Nam Tra My district), Nguyen Chanh Duy (born in 2005) and five of his friends also donned traditional ao dai (Vietnamese long dress) and took photos at Van Thanh - Khong Mieu in Tam Ky. Joining in the lively atmosphere of the spring afternoon, Duy eagerly chose the most beautiful spots to showcase his scholarly appearance and his elegant black ao dai.
"I saw on TikTok that people were taking beautiful photos in ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress) here. This trend is also very meaningful because it honors the beauty of the traditional Vietnamese ao dai. So, I invited my friends to check in together to have beautiful photos to show off this spring," Duy said. Photo: HH

Joining this trend, photographers have also become busier in the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year). Photographer Tran Van Luc (Tien Phuoc district) said: “For about the last 3 years, the trend of taking photos in ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress) has become very popular. Young people often like to take photos in rural markets, places with lots of flowers, or at cultural and historical sites, spaces suitable for wearing ao dai. This year, I've also taken 5-6 sets of photos like that.”
According to Luc, depending on the customer's requirements, the price ranges from 500,000 VND to 1,000,000 VND per photo set. Although this trend is still popular, this year many people have switched to taking photos with their phones instead of hiring professional photo editing services.
