Vietnamese billionaires "flew" 28,700 billion VND in just one day

(Dan Tri) - During the session when the stock market "flew" nearly 95 points, many Vietnamese billionaires "lost" money. Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong was recognized by Forbes as the billionaire whose assets decreased the most in the world.

At the stock trading session on October 20, the VN-Index dropped a record 94.76 points, equivalent to a decrease of 5.47% to 1,636.43 points.

655 stocks decreased with 148 stocks hitting the floor. The sharp decline "blew away" more than 412,300 billion VND (about 16 billion USD) of HoSE's capitalization, 19,500 billion VND of HNX's capitalization and 29,650 billion VND of UpCOM's capitalization; the total market capitalization decreased by 442,000 billion VND.

In this “storm”, billionaires’ stocks were not left out. The assets of Vietnamese billionaires decreased by thousands of billions of dong, and Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong was recognized by Forbes as the billionaire with the most assets decrease in the world .

Specifically, the assets of Vietnam's richest man Pham Nhat Vuong have decreased by 20,400 billion VND, equivalent to a decrease of 4.5%. In today's trading session, VIC shares decreased by 4.5% to 194,900 VND/share.

At the same time, billionaires Tran Dinh Long, Ho Hung Anh and Nguyen Dang Quang all saw their total assets decrease by 7%, as HPG, TCB and MSN stocks all hit the floor. Of which, Tran Dinh Long's assets decreased by about 3,900 billion VND, Ho Hung Anh's decreased by 2,100 billion VND and Nguyen Dang Quang's decreased by 1,900 billion VND.

Although Vietjet Airs' VJC code managed to maintain its green color until the end of the session, billionaire Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao's assets still recorded a decrease of about 400 billion VND, equivalent to 1%. VJC shares decreased by 0.3%, HDB shares hit the floor.

The total assets of the above billionaires decreased by 28,700 billion VND, equivalent to more than 1 billion USD, in just one day.

According to Forbes rankings, billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong's assets decreased by 728 million USD to 18.3 billion USD - also the person with the biggest asset decrease in the day.

Other billionaires include Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao with a decrease of 68 million USD, Mr. Tran Dinh Long with a decrease of 199 million USD, Mr. Ho Hung Anh with a decrease of 205 million USD and Mr. Nguyen Dang Quang with a decrease of 88 million USD.
