On October 20th, the VN-Index experienced a record drop of 94.76 points, or 5.47%, to 1,636.43 points.
655 stocks declined, with 148 hitting the floor limit. The sharp drop wiped out over 412.3 trillion VND (approximately 16 billion USD) in market capitalization on the HoSE, 19.5 trillion VND on the HNX, and 29.65 trillion VND on the UpCOM; the total market capitalization decreased by 442 trillion VND.
In this "storm," the stocks of billionaires were not spared either. Consequently, the assets of Vietnamese billionaires decreased by trillions of dong, with Pham Nhat Vuong being recognized by Forbes as the billionaire with the sharpest decline in wealth worldwide .
Specifically, the net worth of Vietnam's richest man, Pham Nhat Vuong, decreased by 20,400 billion VND, equivalent to a 4.5% drop. During today's trading session, VIC shares fell 4.5% to 194,900 VND per share.
Meanwhile, billionaires Tran Dinh Long, Ho Hung Anh, and Nguyen Dang Quang all saw their total assets decrease by 7%, as HPG, TCB, and MSN shares all hit the floor limit. Specifically, Tran Dinh Long's assets decreased by approximately 3,900 billion VND, Ho Hung Anh's by 2,100 billion VND, and Nguyen Dang Quang's by 1,900 billion VND.
Although Vietjet Air's VJC stock managed to maintain its positive performance until the end of the session, the assets of billionaire Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao still decreased by approximately 400 billion VND, equivalent to 1%. VJC shares fell 0.3%, while HDB shares hit the floor limit.
The total assets of the aforementioned billionaires decreased by 28.7 trillion VND, equivalent to more than 1 billion USD, in just one day.

According to Forbes' rankings, billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong's net worth decreased by $728 million to $18.3 billion – making him the person with the biggest drop in wealth that day.
Other billionaires include Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, who reduced their net worth by $68 million; Mr. Tran Dinh Long, who reduced it by $199 million; Mr. Ho Hung Anh, who reduced it by $205 million; and Mr. Nguyen Dang Quang, who reduced it by $88 million.
