Updating the progress of the two Ho Chi Minh Highway projects, the Rach Soi - Ben Nhat and Go Quao - Vinh Thuan sections, the Construction Investment Management Department (Ministry of Transport) reported that, as of early July 2024, after 4 months of commencement, Kien Giang province had handed over more than 8km of land (over 18%) on the right side of the route that coincides with National Highway 61. However, the technical infrastructure system has not yet been relocated.
Machinery was mobilized by the contractor to serve the construction of the Ho Chi Minh Highway project, specifically the Cho Chu - Trung Son Junction section.
"Within the handed-over land area, contractors have organized construction, with the overall project construction output reaching over 2%, approximately 1.9% behind schedule due to land acquisition issues, lack of embankment materials, and contractors not yet focusing on bridge construction (at bridge locations where land acquisition is not a concern)," the Department of Investment and Construction Management informed.
According to this unit, to ensure the project's progress, the Ministry of Transport has sent a document requesting the People's Committee of Kien Giang province to support the acceleration of land clearance work and direct the contractor to work with local authorities to implement procedures for exploiting materials (river sand and sea sand), ensuring timely supply for the project.
Regarding the Ho Chi Minh Highway project, specifically the Cho Chu - Nga Ba Trung Son section, which commenced on May 30, 2024, according to the Construction Investment Management Department, by early July, 2.5 km (nearly 9%) of the land had been handed over to the project in Thai Nguyen province. The land passing through Tuyen Quang province has not yet been handed over.
"Currently, contractors are mobilizing machinery, equipment, and personnel to prepare for construction. The Ministry of Transport has requested the investor to closely coordinate with the land clearance councils of Thai Nguyen and Tuyen Quang provinces to expedite the surveying, counting, and preparation of compensation plans for land clearance, as well as the conversion of forest land and rice land," the specialized management unit of the Ministry of Transport informed.
The Ho Chi Minh Highway project, specifically the Rach Soi - Ben Nhat and Go Quao - Vinh Thuan sections, has a total length of nearly 52km.
Specifically, the Rach Soi - Ben Nhat section, with a length of over 11km, is located in Chau Thanh and Giong Rieng districts, Kien Giang province.
The Go Quao - Vinh Thuan section is nearly 41km long and is located in Go Quao and Vinh Thuan districts, Kien Giang province.
The total investment for the project is over 3,904 billion VND. In the phased construction, the project will have 2 lanes, a roadbed width of 12m, and a design speed of 80km/h. In the completed phase, the project will have 4 lanes, with a design speed of 80km/h.
The Ho Chi Minh Highway project, specifically the Cho Chu - Trung Son Junction section, has a total length of nearly 29km and passes through two provinces: Thai Nguyen and Tuyen Quang.
The road is being constructed to the standards of a Class III mountain road, with a roadbed width of 9m, a road surface width of 6m, and a design speed of 60km/h, with allowances made for difficult sections.
Specifically, the section passing through the center of Trung Son commune (approximately 532m in length) will be developed as an urban road, with a roadbed width of 14m and a road surface width of 10m. The total investment for the project is 1,665 billion VND from the State budget.
