In February, the Lao Cai Customs Department collected 47.4 billion VND in revenue, a decrease of 51% compared to the previous month. The reason for the sharp decline in revenue this month compared to the previous month is the Lunar New Year holiday of the Year of the Dragon 2024.

Specifically, by the end of February, the total revenue of the Lao Cai Customs Department reached 144.7 billion VND, an increase of 22% compared to the same period in 2023, achieving 13.7% of the target assigned by the Ministry of Finance (1,050 billion VND); and 6.3% of the target assigned by the People's Council and People's Committee of Lao Cai province (2,300 billion VND).

The two customs branches with the highest revenue collection were the Lao Cai International Border Gate Customs Branch with 81.8 billion VND, reaching 13% of the target set by the Customs Department (650 billion VND); and the Lao Cai International Railway Station Customs Branch with 62 billion VND, reaching 16% of the target set by the Customs Department (393 billion VND).

Regarding import and export turnover, in February, the Lao Cai Customs Department processed goods worth 93 million USD, a decrease of 29% compared to the previous month.

Overall, from the beginning of the year until March 2nd, 2024, the import and export turnover through Lao Cai Customs reached 239.3 million USD, an increase of 39.3% compared to the same period in 2023.

Of that total, exports reached $148.5 million, an increase of 35.7%; and imports reached $90.7 million, an increase of 45.7%.
