According to the Head of the Agriculture and Environment Department of Ham Tan District: In recent years, the demand for minerals used as common construction materials in the locality and surrounding areas has increased significantly, but the legal supply remains limited, leading to high prices. Those involved in illegal mining activities have used various methods to exploit, transport, and trade minerals for high profits. In response to this situation, the District People's Committee has directed relevant district agencies to coordinate with the People's Committees of communes and towns to strengthen inspections and strictly handle those involved in illegal mining activities. The inter-agency inspection team of the district has been strengthened to enhance state management of the mineral sector and to handle cases of illegal mining, transportation, storage, and consumption of minerals within the district. Intensive campaigns have been launched to focus on inspecting and handling illegal mining activities in hotspots such as Son My, Tan Duc, Tan Xuan, Tan Phuc, and Thang Hai. Regular inspections and monitoring of mining operations licensed by the Provincial People's Committee have been conducted. Violations in mining operations have been detected, and the District People's Committee has been advised to forward the cases to the Department of Agriculture and Environment for handling according to regulations. These include cases involving Ham Tan Mineral Processing Joint Stock Company, Hoang Long Mineral Investment and Construction Company Limited, Tin Thanh Investment and Production Trading Company Limited, and Tan Ha Investment Company Limited. Simultaneously, efforts have been intensified to disseminate legal information and raise public awareness of the harmful effects of illegal mining and mineral trading. Information regarding violations of the law in mineral activities has been received and promptly addressed in accordance with legal regulations. The inter-agency inspection team of the district and the working groups at the commune and town levels have strengthened information exchange and coordinated efforts to inspect and handle illegal mining, transportation, storage, and consumption of minerals in the district, and effectively implemented intensive inspection and handling campaigns targeting mineral activities according to plan.
In addition, the District Department of Agriculture and Environment advised the District People's Committee to direct the decisive handling of illegal mineral exploitation cases and to inspect and monitor mineral mining operations to ensure compliance with legal regulations. The District Department of Finance and Planning continued to review and conduct post-inspection of common construction material businesses in the district that did not meet relevant regulations and took appropriate measures in accordance with regulations. The People's Committees of communes and towns proactively coordinated with the district's inter-agency inspection team to focus on inspecting, documenting, and handling violations in the land sector related to mineral activities according to their prescribed authority. They focused on inspecting and strictly handling the misuse of land at construction material businesses and acts of land destruction.
