Initial estimates indicate that over 20 hectares of forest were damaged after a fire broke out in the Nghiem mountain area, Hoang Khai commune (Yen Son district, Tuyen Quang province ) at noon on March 21st.
Because the burned forest area consisted of bamboo and reed forests with dense undergrowth, and the weather was dry, the fire spread rapidly, making rescue efforts difficult.

Also on the night of the fire, Mr. Nguyen The Giang, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tuyen Quang province, was present at the scene, directly supervising the rescue and relief efforts of the functional forces.
As of midnight on March 22nd, over 800 people had participated in the rescue efforts, creating approximately 1000 meters of firebreak to prevent the fire from spreading.
By approximately 5:30 AM on March 22nd, the fire on Nghiem Mountain was still raging within the firebreak created by the authorities.
Authorities worked through the night to control the fire. However, the dry weather, coupled with darkness, strong winds, and complex terrain, made it difficult for the participating forces.
The officers and soldiers were exhausted.
