Eager to admire the ice on Mau Son peak

– Starting from the afternoon of January 22nd, a verstärkt cold front directly affected many areas in the province, including Mau Son peak in Loc Binh district, where temperatures dropped significantly and frost appeared. Frost is expected to reappear on Mau Son peak between 2022 and 2024. Following news of the frost on Mau Son, tourists from all over flocked to the peak to visit, take photos, and capture these interesting images.

Immediately after receiving information that Mau Son mountain was covered in thick, white frost, we set off from Lang Son city at 8:00 AM on January 23rd to travel to Mau Son mountain. Despite the extremely cold weather and rain, tourists from all over still flocked to the summit of Mau Son from the intersection of National Highway 4B and the road leading to Mau Son to admire the frost.

To ensure the safety of tourists and regulate traffic, authorities were present quite early to carry out their duties. Mr. Hua Van Chan, a traffic inspector from the Department of Transport, said: "From 7:30 a.m., we were present in the Mau Son mountain area to inspect and regulate traffic. At this time, many people are going to the mountaintop to see the frost. Starting from early afternoon, some sections of the road are experiencing traffic jams, and we are actively regulating traffic to ensure the safe movement of tourists."

It took us two hours to reach the summit of Mau Son. Before us were hills, slopes, trees, and buildings covered in layers of frost. Tourists from all over flocked there, thoroughly delighted by this fascinating natural phenomenon, which is not found in many places. Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan Anh from Uong Bi City, Quang Ninh Province, said: "After hearing that Mau Son had frost, I prepared and left at 4 am to get there as quickly as possible to see the frost. Although this is my third time here, I am still very excited. The scenery covered in a pristine white layer of frost is very beautiful, and it's also an opportunity for me to capture special moments in winter."

It is known that frost appeared from around 4 PM on January 22nd, and then became thicker and more dense. Mr. Hoang Quoc Huy, Head of the Mau Son Meteorological Station, said: On the morning of January 23rd, the frost became even thicker, with the temperature measured on the summit of Mau Son this morning being -1.8 degrees Celsius. According to information from the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting, another cold front is expected in the next 1 to 2 days, with temperatures forecast to continue to drop and frost potentially lasting for another 1-2 days. Tourists visiting Mau Son for sightseeing and photography should proactively protect themselves from the cold.

To ensure adequate food and accommodation for tourists, relevant units have proactively inspected and disseminated information at lodging and food establishments in the Mau Son tourist area. Mr. Nguyen Minh Chuyen, an official from the Lang Son Tourism Promotion Center, stated: "Currently, there are 3 accommodation establishments and over 10 food and beverage establishments serving tourists on Mau Son peak. Before the frost warnings, we had informed these establishments not to increase service prices, to ensure food safety and hygiene, and to maintain environmental cleanliness. As a result, the establishments have proactively prepared to accommodate guests; however, at present, the accommodation facilities are overloaded due to the large number of tourists. Some tourists have stayed and eaten at the homes of local people around Mau Son mountain."

According to official forecasts, temperatures will continue to drop on the afternoon of January 23rd, and Mau Son peak will remain icy, possibly even experiencing snowfall. Therefore, tourists visiting Mau Son need to proactively take safety precautions and keep warm to fully enjoy the captivating natural scenery.
