Vietnam Blockchain Association changes name

On July 25, the Vietnam Blockchain Association officially changed its name to the Vietnam Blockchain and Digital Assets Association (still keeping the abbreviation VBA). The new name reflects the change in orientation of VBA, from promoting blockchain technology to playing a central role in creating and leading the development of the digital asset market and blockchain ecosystem, starting with the VBSN network.

The representative of the Ministry of Home Affairs assessed that the name change shows the development and open vision, quickly grasping the trend of digital asset market development of VBA.

The decision to change the name was approved on the basis of 100% consensus of the members present, organized in accordance with Decree 126/2024/ND-CP on organization, operation and management of associations, with the participation of representatives of state management agencies including the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Science & Technology.

The event took place in the context that Vietnam has issued many strategic and directional policies for the blockchain and digital asset industry, such as Decision 1236/QD/TTg, Promulgating the National Strategy on Application and Development of Blockchain Technology to 2025, with a vision to 2030; Decision 1131/QD-TTg dated June 12, 2025, Promulgating the List of Strategic Technologies and Strategic Technology Products and the Law on Digital Technology Industry (effective from January 1, 2026) officially recognizing digital assets as a type of property protected by law.

Ms. Nguyen Van Hien, Vice President and General Secretary of VBA, said: "The renaming of the Association not only shows keeping up with the trend of the times but also affirms the determination to accelerate the process of integrating blockchain technology and digital assets into the legal, financial and public service systems, bringing Vietnam into the global digital transformation flow."

The Congress also approved the number of Executive Committee members including 28 members, the list of Executive Committee members and the list of Inspection Committee for the 2025 - 2030 term. Mr. Phan Duc Trung continues to hold the position of Chairman of VBA, along with three Vice Chairmen: Ms. Nguyen Van Hien, Mr. Nguyen Trong Khang and Mr. Phan Chien Thang.
