First consultation on the structure and number of candidates for the 16th National Assembly

The Vietnam Fatherland Front held the first consultative conference to discuss the structure, composition, and number of people from central agencies, organizations, and units nominated to run for the 16th National Assembly.

On December 4, in Hanoi , the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front held the first consultation conference to discuss the structure, composition, and number of people from central agencies, organizations, and units nominated to run for the 16th National Assembly.

Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Vice Chairwoman of the National Election Council, emphasized that the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term is an important political event of the country; a broad democratic activity among the people to promote the right to mastery, select exemplary and worthy people, representing the will, aspirations and right to mastery of the people.

Seriously and promptly implementing the Politburo's directive, election preparations are being carried out closely, uniformly and proactively from the central to local levels, creating an important foundation for the successful organization of the election of National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies at all levels to be held on March 15, 2026.

"The success of the election depends on many factors, including the extremely important role and responsibility of our Vietnam Fatherland Front system," Ms. Hoai emphasized.

Implementing the plan of the National Election Council, the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front organized the first consultative conference to agree on the structure, composition and number of delegates of central agencies, organizations and units to be nominated as candidates for the 16th National Assembly.

According to regulations, to ensure democracy and select representative candidates for National Assembly and People's Council deputies, the consultative conference will be held three times.

"The first consultation conference at each level will be held from December 1, 2025 to December 10, 2025; the second consultation will be held from February 2, 2026 to February 3, 2026. The third consultation will be held from February 9, 2026 to February 20, 2026," Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai stated.

At the conference, Mr. Nguyen Huu Dong, member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the National Assembly Deputies' Affairs Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Organization Committee, presented the Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee stipulating the expected number of people from political organizations, socio-political organizations, social organizations, people's armed forces, and central state agencies to be nominated as candidates for the 16th National Assembly.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President - General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Election Steering Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, presented the report of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front on the expected number of people from political organizations, socio-political organizations, social organizations, people's armed forces, and central state agencies to be nominated as candidates for the 16th National Assembly.

Based on the content of the Resolution and the Report of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the delegates focused on discussing the number of people from central agencies, organizations and units recommended to run for the 16th National Assembly./.
