(Dan Tri Newspaper) - Coach Philippe Troussier affirmed that against a very strong opponent like South Korea, the Vietnamese national team can play defensively for about 70% of the match.
After two 0-2 defeats against China and Uzbekistan, the Vietnamese national team has a highly anticipated friendly match against South Korea (ranked 26th in the world ) at 6:00 PM on October 17th at Suwon Stadium (South Korea). When asked whether the Vietnamese team would field many young players to continue experimenting as in the matches against China and Uzbekistan, coach Philippe Troussier said: "We are in the process of building a team for our upcoming goals. In tomorrow's match against South Korea, the Vietnamese team has decided to play defensively for about 60-70% of the time."

"One of the factors that helped the Vietnamese team minimize the difference in possession time is that our players were calmer and overcame pressure from the opponent. Of course, compared to the Korean players, the Vietnamese players have a certain gap in skill level. However, I expect my players to show the highest level of determination," the French strategist emphasized. "I don't want to use the word 'test' for tomorrow's match; it's an opportunity for them to test themselves and compete against a world-class opponent," said Coach Philippe Troussier.

Meanwhile, center-back Duy Mạnh expressed his determination: "The Vietnamese team will take to the field with confidence. We are all here representing our national teams. Although it's a friendly match, each game is a very valuable experience. South Korea has many players who play in Europe. As fellow Asian players, I think South Korea and Vietnam support each other. We also dream of Vietnamese football developing rapidly, catching up with teams that have participated in the World Cup many times, like Japan or South Korea." "The whole team will always adhere to the tactics and strategies, showing the highest spirit to achieve a good result in the match against South Korea. Hopefully, tomorrow's match will be exciting," Duy Mạnh concluded.
