On the afternoon of May 29th, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) confirmed that the Vietnamese national team will play a friendly match against Syria at Thien Truong Stadium on June 20th.

Coach Troussier is about to face a manager who once made a name for himself in Europe.

The Vietnamese national team will play a friendly match against Syria during the FIFA Day in June.

This also marks the first time that fans in Nam Dinh have had the opportunity to watch the Vietnamese national team play on their home soil.

The leaders of Nam Dinh province affirmed that they will closely cooperate with the VFF and create the most favorable conditions for the "Golden Star Warriors" as well as the visiting Syrian team.

Syria is currently ranked 90th in the world , five places higher than Vietnam. The West Asian team also reached the third round of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in the Asian region.

Syria earned 6 points in this qualifying round, with one win against Lebanon and three draws against Iraq (twice) and UAE.

The Syrian national team is led by coach Hector Cuper, who previously managed Valencia, Inter Milan, Real Betis, and Parma.

In terms of squad composition, this team boasts several players currently playing in Europe, such as Abdul Weiss, Oliver Kawo, Amma Ramadan, and Simon Amin.

Previously, the VFF also announced that the Vietnamese national team would have a friendly match against Hong Kong on June 15th at Lach Tray Stadium ( Hai Phong ).
