Nui Coc Lake releases floodwaters, areas along the Cau River continue to be deeply flooded.

The area along the Cau River in Soc Son district is currently experiencing severe flooding.

Monitoring data shows that the water level of the Cau River at the Luong Phuc hydrological station (Viet Long commune, Soc Son district) is still very high. The Hanoi City Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue has issued a Level II alert on the Cau River.

Observations indicate that the flooding situation in the areas along the Cau River in Soc Son district is becoming increasingly serious. Agricultural land and production infrastructure along the river are now deeply submerged.

Alarmingly, according to Notice No. 465/TB-CTKTTL dated August 1, 2024, from Thai Nguyen Irrigation Exploitation One-Member Limited Company, the unit is increasing the flow rate through the spillway of the Nui Coc reservoir. This is expected to cause the water level of the Cau River to continue rising.

The risk of flooding in the areas along the Cau River could worsen due to the release of water from the Nui Coc reservoir.

To proactively respond to flooding on the Cau River and ensure the safety of people, property, and riverside activities when the water flow through the spillway of the Nui Coc reservoir increases, the Hanoi City Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue requests the Soc Son District Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue to focus on implementing response measures.

The main task in the coming hours is to immediately inform all levels of government, the public, organizations operating on and along the river; aquaculture facilities on the river, water transport vehicles; construction sites; ferry crossings; production and business activities, sand and gravel mining... about the increased flow through the spillway of the Nui Coc reservoir.

Based on information regarding the release of water from Nui Coc Reservoir, proactively implement measures and adjust operations accordingly; prevent people from going to areas at risk of landslides or construction sites, avoiding potential losses.

Speaking with Kinh tế và Đô thị (Economy and Urban Affairs), the Head of the Economic Department of Soc Son district, Hoang Thi Ha, said that to proactively respond to rising floodwaters on the Cau River, the District People's Committee has issued orders to mobilize forces to patrol and guard the dikes along the right bank of the Cau River (in the communes of Trung Gia, Tan Hung, Bac Phu, and Viet Long).

Currently, the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue in Soc Son district is maintaining a strict duty roster, coordinating closely with riverside communes, and regularly providing information on the developments of rain and floods to proactively implement response measures in accordance with flood warning regulations.
