Monitoring data shows that the water level of Cau River at Luong Phuc hydrological station (Viet Long commune, Soc Son district) is still at a very high level. The Hanoi Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue has issued a second alert on Cau River.

It is noted that the flooding situation in the areas along the Cau River in Soc Son District is becoming more and more serious. Agricultural areas and production infrastructure along the river are all deeply flooded.

Worryingly, according to Notice No. 465/TB-CTKTTL dated August 1, 2024 of Thai Nguyen Irrigation Exploitation Company Limited, the unit is increasing the flow through the spillway of Nui Coc reservoir. This will cause the water level of Cau River to continue to rise.

The risk of flooding along the Cau River could be even more serious due to the discharge of floodwater from Nui Coc Lake.
The risk of flooding along the Cau River could be even more serious due to the discharge of floodwater from Nui Coc Lake.

To proactively respond to floods on the Cau River and ensure the safety of people, property, and riverside activities when increasing the flow through the spillway of Nui Coc reservoir, the Hanoi City Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue requests the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue of Soc Son district to focus on implementing response solutions.

The key task in the coming hours is to immediately notify authorities at all levels, people, organizations operating on rivers and along rivers; aquaculture facilities on rivers, water transport vehicles; construction works under construction; ferry terminals; production and business activities, sand and gravel exploitation... about the increase in flow through the spillway of Nui Coc reservoir.

Based on information about flood discharge from Nui Coc Lake, proactively deploy measures and adjust activities accordingly; do not let people go to areas at risk of landslides or construction sites, to avoid unfortunate damages that may occur.

Speaking with Kinh te va Do thi, Head of Soc Son District Economic Department Hoang Thi Ha said that to proactively respond to floods on Cau River, the District People's Committee has issued orders to mobilize forces to patrol and guard the dikes on the right dike of Cau (in the communes of Trung Gia, Tan Hung, Bac Phu, Viet Long).

Currently, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue of Soc Son district is still organizing serious shifts, closely coordinating with riverside communes, regularly informing about the developments of floods and rains to proactively deploy response measures according to regulations on flood warnings.
