In the Dream of Vietnam program on the evening of May 12, Miss Ngoc Chau admitted to her mother - Ms. Dang Thi Gai - that she could not get a bachelor's degree in Biotechnology from Ton Duc Thang University (HCMC).

Miss Universe Vietnam 2022 told her mother: "I used to tell you that I had almost finished my studies, and that I would graduate with a thesis and project. However, I still had 1-2 projects to complete, so I couldn't get my degree. Because my training period had expired, the school did not allow me to return to continue studying. Now I can't get my degree anymore."

At this time, Ngoc Chau's mother reacted with surprise and worry. Although sad, she still encouraged Ngoc Chau: "The most tiring and difficult time was when the family ran out of money and the children were still young. At that time, I had to go to the bank to borrow money and work to raise the children. I just hope you have a stable job. You just keep trying, whatever happened has happened."

Mrs. Gai also advised Ngoc Chau to work seriously and always respect and listen to comments from the audience.

In February, a list of students who had not yet graduated and were overdue for training at Ton Duc Thang University was circulated on social media, including a student ID number in the same major as Ngoc Chau. She immediately became embroiled in controversy.

Speaking to Zing , Mr. Tran Viet Bao Hoang - CEO of Unicorp, Ngoc Chau's management unit - said that the beauty queen had not graduated from university. He said: "At the time of the Miss Universe Vietnam 2022 contest, the information in Ngoc Chau's profile was completely honest, that she had a 12/12 education level and was studying Biotechnology at Ton Duc Thang University. Currently, Chau has not graduated from Ton Duc Thang University."

After winning the national competition, Ngoc Chau spent time focusing on preparing for the Miss Universe 2022 exam and was unable to complete some subjects. At that time, Ngoc Chau's management company said that it had asked Ton Duc Thang University for support and created conditions for her to complete her graduation project after the exam.

Nguyen Thi Ngoc Chau, born in 1994, was crowned Miss Universe Vietnam 2022. In the same year, she competed in Miss Universe in the US but did not advance far.
