Construction began on December 19, 2021, and after three years, the project to preserve, restore, and promote the value of the Hai Van Pass national historical site was completed with a total investment of over 42 billion VND, with each locality contributing 50% from its budget.
According to information presented at the ceremony, to implement the project, Thua Thien Hue province and Da Nang city have established a model of exemplary work in heritage restoration and preservation.
The two localities have collaborated to deploy 3D technology applications and provide free Wi-Fi coverage at tourist attractions to help visitors learn more about heritage values and stay updated on available services and amenities during their visit to the Hai Van Pass national historical site.
In addition, both sides have implemented supporting facilities, especially in the logistics and service area such as parking lots, standard public restrooms, and souvenir display spaces for visitors; and coordinated with the Road Management Area (Vietnam Road Administration) to organize traffic on National Highway 1 section through Hai Van Pass.
Hai Van Pass has long been praised as "the most magnificent pass in the world" thanks to its majestic natural beauty and strategically important military location.
Located at an altitude of 490m on the Hai Van mountain range, Hai Van Pass is an impressive military fortress, considered one of the most majestic mountain passes in Vietnam. The site is situated approximately 90km north of Hue city center and 28km south of Da Nang city center.
Hai Van Pass holds significant cultural and historical value and is also a famous scenic spot. On July 14, 2017, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism recognized Hai Van Pass as a National Historical and Architectural Monument.
This project is considered an invaluable shared asset, a symbol of the excellent cooperative relationship between Thua Thien Hue province and Da Nang city. It also serves as an important foundation for both sides to continue coordinating in the preservation and promotion of the historical site's value in the future.
