The People's Committee of Hoi An City ( Quang Nam province) has just announced some regulations for the pilot implementation of an experiential accommodation model with residents of the ancient town for tourists.
According to the announcement, the project will be implemented within the Hoi An Old Town area; prioritizing houses in alleys and lanes in Zone I and adjacent areas to Zone I; and houses with street frontage in Zones I and IIA of the Old Town.
The participants in this model are local residents of Hoi An, with permanent residence and actual living in the house where the activity is planned; they must be exemplary cultural families and have prestige in the local community. Priority and encouragement will be given to households whose lives are closely linked to the production and business activities of traditional crafts and trades; and who have cultural and artistic activities for tourists to participate in and experience.

The project will be implemented within the Hoi An Old Town area; prioritizing houses in alleys and lanes in Zone I and adjacent areas; and houses with street frontage in Zones I and IIA of the Old Town.
The accommodation requirements for guests participating in the experience are that the house must have an architectural style that is compatible with the Old Quarter; the rooms and space must be arranged to meet the needs of guests for accommodation, living, interaction, and experiences with their families. Priority will be given to houses with architectural and artistic value. The house must have no more than 5 guest rooms, and each room must accommodate a maximum of 2 people. No reception desk should be set up at the guest reception area.
Regarding the organization of distinctive services, it is essential to ensure the quality of services beyond accommodation, especially experiential and exploratory services closely linked to the daily lives of households, communities, and society, in accordance with the city's programs and activities. Information on the forms, content, and timing of activities within the family should be provided to facilitate guests' experiences and participation in daily life with the family.
Households hosting guests must comply with the regulations of the 2017 Tourism Law and its implementing guidelines.

Regarding the application and processing procedure: Households submit applications to participate in the model along with relevant legal documents to the local authority where they reside (People's Committee of Minh An, Cam Pho, and Son Phong wards). Based on the actual residence of the household, the local authority will provide confirmation of the citizen's application; the processing time will not exceed 2 working days.
Based on the confirmation and proposals from the local authorities, the City Department of Culture and Information, in coordination with relevant departments, will conduct a field inspection and survey of the house, discuss and agree on specific proposals, and report to the City People's Committee for approval to implement the plan.
Before commencing operations, at least 15 days prior to any changes to the establishment's name, scale, legal representative, etc., the household is responsible for sending a written notification to the Department of Culture and Information and the People's Committee of the locality where the operation is registered, for management, monitoring, and support during operation.
