The bridge over the Cho Gao canal in Tien Giang province has been completed.

The bridge project has a total investment of over 263 billion VND, with the Tien Giang Provincial Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Transportation Works as the investor.

According to Mr. Tran Minh Trung, Director of the Tien Giang Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board for Transportation Projects, the Cho Gao Bridge is located in Tan My Chanh commune, My Tho city and Cho Gao district, with a length of nearly 600m and a bridge deck width of 12m paved with asphalt concrete.

The bridge has 11 spans, with 3 main spans designed as balanced cantilever structures and the remaining 8 spans as Super T girders. The approach roads on each side are nearly 300m long and 12m wide.

This is one of the components of the Provincial Road 864 project (road along the Tien River), from Go Cong Dong district to Cai Be district in Tien Giang province.

Accordingly, the project's starting point connects to National Highway 30 in Tan Hung commune (Cai Be district), and its end point connects to Provincial Road 862 in Tan Thanh commune, Go Cong Dong district, Tien Giang province, with a length of over 111km.

The project includes approximately 36km of newly constructed sections, over 26km of upgraded and expanded sections, and over 48km of existing roads utilized. The route runs along the Tien River, passing through 8 districts in Tien Giang province.

Phase 1 (2022 - 2025) involves construction of the section from My Tho City to the Red Light intersection (intersection with Provincial Road 862), Go Cong Dong District, and land clearance, funded by 1,200 billion VND from the central government budget, with the remaining portion invested by the local budget.

Phase 2 (2026 - 2027), from the Red Light intersection to Tan Thanh five-way intersection and from National Highway 30 to Cai Be town, will be funded by the local budget and other legal sources of capital.

According to Mr. Pham Van Trong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tien Giang province, the project is being invested in to promote linkages between Tien Giang and Ho Chi Minh City, other provinces in the region, and the Mekong Delta.

At the same time, connecting the three economic zones of the East, West, and urban areas of the province will create a smoother and more efficient existing transportation network, promote regional development, and reduce congestion on National Highway 1; creating conditions to attract investment and develop industrial zones, urban areas, tourism , aquaculture, etc.
